Study On The Responsibility Fulfillment And Economic Consequences Of ESG Of Shenhua In China From The Perspective Of Sustainable Development

With the implementation of "Double Carbon" strategy and the rapid development of ESG in our country,more and more enterprises realize that they should take the initiative to undertake ESG responsibility,to enhance their corporate image and profitability.Coal industry,which is characterized by high emission and high pollution,is one of the key industries in the "dual carbon" strategy,and its implementation and effect of ESG responsibilities have the necessity and important influence.Based on this,this paper selects China Shenhua,a representative enterprise in the coal industry,as the research object to analyze its performance in the three dimensions of environment,social responsibility and corporate governance(ESG),and further analyzes its impact on corporate performance and sustainable development ability.By measuring China Shenhua ESG responsibility performance more objectively,and analyzing its characteristics and effects,this study can provide theoretical basis and practical reference for the healthy and sustainable development of enterprises,as well as provide experience for the coal industry ESG concept construction and responsibility performance promotion,help the implementation of double carbon strategy.Using case study method and literature study method,this paper firstly describes the overall ESG responsibility performance situation of coal industry,and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of coal enterprises in ESG responsibility performance.Then,Shenhua of China is taken as a representative case to analyze its ESG performance and characteristics,as well as the impact of ESG responsibility fulfillment on enterprise performance.Further,based on the analysis of financial performance,the index system of sustainable development ability is constructed to analyze the influence mechanism and effect of the fulfillment of ESG responsibility of Shenhua on the enterprise’s sustainable development ability.The results show that: first,the coal industry has high enthusiasm for ESG information disclosure,good performance of ESG responsibility,and relatively excellent performance in high-energy consumption industries,but the continuity and adequacy of ESG information disclosure,as well as the performance of E and S dimensions of responsibility need to be improved;Second,China Shenhua is the industry leader in ESG responsibility performance,and its measures are efficient,but the market recognition of its ESG responsibility performance and the play of external market value effect need to be improved;Third,after taking into account the external industry environment,policies and other influencing factors,the good performance of ESG responsibilities of Shenhua will help improve the financial performance indicators of the enterprise’s profitability,debt paying ability and operation ability.Further analysis found that the sustainable development ability of the enterprise was gradually improved.The influence mechanism study showed that the market competitiveness of China Shenhua was improved year by year during the study period,and the risk bearing capacity was enhanced after the implementation of green innovation and the fulfillment of ESG responsibilities in 2017.According to the above research findings,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions and measures.The in-depth analysis of Shenhua’s ESG responsibility fulfillment in this paper not only enriches the theoretical research framework of ESG from the perspective of industrial applicability,but also provides theoretical support and experience reference for the development and practice of ESG concept in the coal industry.
