Brominated butyl rubber is often used in the inner liner of automobile tires due to its excellent air tightness,so it is necessary to meet the urgent needs of the tire industry for high air tightness.In this paper,organic montmorillonite was uniformly dispersed in brominated butyl rubber by solution intercalation method to prepare composite materials,and the influence of the dispersion of organic montmorillonite on the structure and properties of composite materials was revealed.The main work is as follows :(1)The effects of two kinds of organic montmorillonite 1.30 P and 1.44 P on the properties of brominated butyl rubber composites were investigated.It was observed by scanning electron microscopy that the nano-dispersion of organic montmorillonite in brominated butyl rubber could be achieved by solution method.The addition of two kinds of organic montmorillonite could improve the mechanical properties and gas barrier properties of the composites.The air tightness of 1.44 P and 1.30 P increased by 23 % and 43 %,respectively.(2)The feasibility of the solution method in the actual factory process was explored by using the actual scale-up equipment.The results show that the law found in the laboratory can be reproduced in the actual factory process.The solution method can make the organic montmorillonite uniformly dispersed and intercalated in the rubber matrix,resulting in better mechanical properties and air tightness of the composite material,and the air tightness is increased by 26 %.(3)The effect of organic modifier polytetrahydrofuran on the dispersion and properties of organic montmorillonite in brominated butyl rubber was studied in the scale-up experiment.Through the performance test and microstructure characterization of the composite material,in the scale-up experiment,the modifier polytetrahydrofuran can make the organic montmorillonite further dispersed and uniformly intercalated into the brominated butyl rubber,which improves the air tightness of the composite material.(4)Aiming at the problem of high gel content of organic montmorillonite/ brominated butyl rubber nanocomposites prepared by solution method,different devolatilization processes and high filling wet process were studied.The results showed that compared with hot roller devolatilization,gel content was lower by oven drying devolatilization,gel content decreased from 16.8 %to 5.6 %,and less gel content led to lower Mooney of masterbatch,which did not affect the subsequent production process and ensured the dispersion of organic montmorillonite and the air tightness of composites.Compared with the high filling dry process,the high filling wet process can solve the problem of high gel content,which provides an effective way for industrial implementation.
