In recent decades,China has achieved remarkable achievements in various aspects. However,at the same time, the natural environment has been severely damaged, and natural resources have been consumed in large quantities.Among various environmental problems, air pollution is undoubtedly the top priority. The intensification of air pollution has gradually hindered China’s economy in seeking further development, and the country has begun to attach importance to air pollution,And propose a series of rectification measures and policies.Enterprises are an important subject of economic development, and active entrepreneurial activities can provide a continuous stream of fresh blood for economic development,as well as alleviate employment pressure for the entire society. However, due to the high risk and uncertainty of entrepreneurial behavior,it has to some extent suppressed the public’s entrepreneurial decision-making.In addition, with the rapid development of the financial system in China, the financial system has played a crucial role in the process of economic development, especially in the process of entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurial behavior will also affect the development of the financial system to a certain extent. Therefore, studying the correlation between air quality and mass entrepreneurship has certain practical significance for the government to encourage entrepreneurship, promote the development of the financial system, and achieve a relative balance between economic development and environmental protection.Based on the impact mechanism of air pollution on entrepreneurial behavior, this paper uses the fixed effect model to conduct linear regression between the air quality data of cities and the number of registered industrial and commercial enterprises from 2014 to 2019,and further verifies the reliability of the research results by testing the endogenous problem and robustness of the model; This paper analyzes the mesomeric effect of urban annual loan balance to explore the role of the financial system in the process of entrepreneurship;Conduct group heterogeneity analysis on samples based on different standards to explore the impact of air quality on entrepreneurship in different types of cities.Based on the conclusions obtained from the research, targeted recommendations are made for government policies. This article explores the relationship between air pollution and entrepreneurship from the perspective of prefecture level cities, which enriches the research perspective to a certain extent. The research conclusion indicates that:(1)Air pollution has a significant inhibitory effect on entrepreneurial decision-making.(2)In the process of the impact of air pollution on residents’ entrepreneurial decision-making,the mesomeric effect of urban annual loan balance is significant.(3)In cities with more abundant entrepreneurial resources, especially financial resources, the impact of air pollution on entrepreneurial behavior is more significant.Based on this conclusion, the following suggestions are proposed:(1)The government should formulate corresponding environmental protection policies to improve air quality and stimulate public entrepreneurship.(2)To change our mindset,we cannot first develop and then govern. We must protect while developing.(3)The government needs to strengthen the construction of a series of urban infrastructure and create a good business environment.(4)The government should increase support for various aspects of entrepreneurial activities.(5)The government should promote the development of the financial system based on the entrepreneurial situation to ensure that entrepreneurial activities receive corresponding financial support.
