Butyl acrylate-styrene-acrylonitrile(ASA)grafted polymers have a microstructure similar to ABS,but butyl acrylate was used to replace the original butadiene during the synthesis process.Due to the fact that the microstructure of the copolymer does not contain double bonds,it has excellent weather resistance and can be used outdoors instead of ABS.Currently,the market demand for ASA resin is increasing,but its core and key technologies are still mastered by large foreign chemical enterprises.Therefore,it is urgent to carry out research on the synthesis and modification of ASA resin.In this paper,the effects of emulsifiers,initiators,and crosslinking agents on the polymerization reaction during the preparation of PBA latex seeds were investigated.In the subsequent process of preparing large particle size PBA latex,a large particle size PBA latex with controllable narrow particle size distribution was successfully prepared by changing the emulsifier and feeding speed.During the preparation of ASA resin,the effects of the types and amounts of additives on the mechanical properties of ASA resin were investigated.Subsequently,different sizes of ASA grafted polymers were prepared using PBA latex with different particle sizes.The effect of blending single particle size ASA graft polymer with large and small particles in different proportions on the mechanical properties of SAN resin was investigated.The results of this experimental study are as follows:1、In the process of preparing small particle size PBA latex,both the amount of emulsifier and initiator have an impact on the polymerization rate.When the amount of emulsifier is 0.7% of the total amount of monomers,and the amount of initiator is 0.5% of the total amount of monomers,a small particle size PBA latex with the narrowest distribution and stable system can be obtained.In the process of preparing PBA latex with large particle size,when the amount of emulsifier is 1.0% of the total monomer content and the single drop acceleration is 0.9 g/min,it can not only improve the reaction process and improve the experimental efficiency,but also obtain a stable and narrow distribution of PBA latex with large particle size.2、Using different types of cross-linking agents,changing the amount of cross-linking agents,and adjusting the core shell ratio can have an impact on the mechanical properties of ASA resin.By adjusting the polymerization formula to find the optimal amount of various substances and the optimal core shell ratio,excellent ASA resin can be prepared.3、In the experiment,a series of PBA latex with different sizes were synthesized,and based on this,ASA graft polymers with different sizes were prepared.The effect of ASA graft polymers with different PBA rubber particle sizes on the toughening performance of SAN resin was investigated.The experiment found that the ASA graft polymer prepared with a PBA size of 398.7 nm had the best mechanical properties when blended with SAN resin.4、According to the theory of synergistic effect of small particles,in the experiment,ASA grafted polymer prepared from small particles(98.5 nm)of PBA and large particles of PBA was mixed to toughen SAN resin.The results showed that the mechanical properties of ASA grafted polymer with rubber particles of 98.5 nm and 602.9 nm were the best when the proportion of small particles was 7 parts and the proportion of large particles was 3 parts.
