The accumulation of moisture on the road surface is a major factor affecting the performance and service life of the road, which can accelerate the damage to the road surface causing deformation of the roadbed, road frost swelling and cracks at the edges,so it is extremely important to improve the effectiveness of road drainage design. In road drainage systems, nonwoven geotextiles are often used as drainage materials, but they are not suitable for unsaturated soil conditions in most pavement systems and have poor drainage performance. In order to solve the problem that traditional geotextiles cannot drain capillary water under unsaturated conditions, and to meet the requirement of high mechanical strength in the application of geotextiles in road construction, this paper develops a drainage reinforced geotextile with excellent drainage and mechanical properties, which can effectively drain excess water from the pavement structure and improve the performance of the pavement, and will play an important role in the road construction system.Drainage reinforced geotextiles are designed and prepared from 4DG nylon yarn and polyester filament yarn,of which the 4DG nylon yarn has good wicking properties and mainly plays a drainage role, while the polyester filament yarn is strong and mainly plays the role of reinforcement. In order to investigate the effect of the fineness and proportion of drainage and reinforcement yarns on the mechanical properties of drainage reinforced geotextiles and to assess their drainage capacity, six samples of drainage reinforced geotextiles were prepared using a woven process. The samples were subjected to tensile test, trapezoidal method to determine the tear strength and static puncture test. The test results showed that: the structure of the waterconducting reinforced geotextiles was stable and the mechanical properties were good;increasing the proportion of drainage weft yarns was not conducive to the improvement of the weft tensile strength and tear strength of the samples;increasing the proportion of reinforced weft yarns could improve the weft tensile strength and bursting strength of the samples.Increasing the fineness of the drainage weft increases the warp tensile strength of the fabric, but decreases the weft tensile strength and reduces the tear strength;increasing the fineness of the reinforced weft increases the weft tensile strength of the fabric, but decreases the warp tensile strength and reduces the tear strength. The drainage performance of the drainage reinforced geotextiles is tested and the results show that the drainage reinforced geotextiles have good wicking performance in the drainage direction, and compared with the common woven and non-woven drainage geotextiles, the drainage performance has been improved to a certain extent, which can effectively reduce the water content in unsaturated soils. In unsaturated soils, the lateral drainage performance of drainage reinforced geotextiles is mainly related to the wicking performance of the fabric in this direction, the better the wicking performance in the drainage direction of the fabric, the stronger its drainage capacity.
