The manufacturing of metal grooved drum currently involves three main methods:the first is using nodular cast iron prepared by German Zollern company,the second is using vermicular cast iron prepared by Italian Salvio company,and the third is using cast aluminum drum prepared by Japanese Murata company.However,the manufacturing processes of these three methods are complicated,labor-intensive,and have long production cycles.Therefore,this study focuses on the 5102 model grooved drum,and explores a new method of metal grooved drum manufacturing by combining3 D sand printing technology and casting technology.This method can produce grooved drum castings with excellent performance,and can solve the problem of inverted molding in traditional casting,while shortening the manufacturing cycle.The research mainly includes the following aspects:(1)Studying the manufacturing process of metal grooved drum,including material selection,sand mold preparation,and processing technology.(2)Mathematical modeling of the drum curve,and design of the model using Catia software.A 3D contour scan was conducted on an actual metal grooved drum sample,and the model was optimized and processed through software.(3)Simulation of sand mold pouring using Pro Cast software,and improvement based on the simulation results.Analysis of the simulation results revealed that the filling at the top of the drum was not uniform,which resulted in certain defects in the overall performance of the drum.In response to this problem,the sand mold was redesigned,and experimental parameters were adjusted to optimize the model.(4)After optimizing the model,it was imported into a 3D sand printing machine to print the mold,which was then poured to obtain the metal grooved drum casting.The surface of the drum casting was subjected to hardness testing and friction wear experiments,and it showed high hardness values and wear resistance.Through experimentation and analysis,this study proves that metal grooved drum can be successfully manufactured using 3D sand printing technology.By modeling the drum curve,sand mold,and simulation of pouring experiments,the casting of metal grooved drum was ultimately completed.Hardness testing was conducted,and high hardness values and wear resistance were obtained,which indicates that the manufacturing method proposed in this study can produce high-quality grooved drum castings.Therefore,this study has certain reference value for the manufacturing process and performance research of metal grooved drum.
