| Aramid Ⅲ fiber is a high-performance fiber independently developed by my country with excellent properties such as high strength and high modulus, high temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance. It has broad application prospects in the fields of woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, and composite materials. However, aramid Ⅲ fiber is prone to“fibrillation” and has poor wear resistance.During the production and weaving process,it is easy to produce wool or even fiber breakage when subjected to external friction, which affects both production efficiency and product quality. At present, the modification of aramid Ⅲ fiber mostly focuses on improving the adhesion between it and the resin matrix, and there is little research on improving its wear resistance.Cryogenic treatment is an easy-to-operate,high-efficiency,and low-cost modification technology that can improve the strength, toughness, and wear resistance of materials. In this paper, cryogenic treatment technology is applied to the modification of aramid Ⅲ fiber to explore its effect on the abrasion resistance of fiber and fabric.Firstly, directly put the aramid Ⅲ fiber into the liquid nitrogen tank for quenching treatment for 12 hours(QM for short). The tensile properties, thermodynamic properties and wear resistance of the aramid fiber Ⅲ before and after cryogenic treatment were tested, and the surface morphology of the fibers was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).and internal structures. The results show that after cryogenic treatment, the diameter of the aramid Ⅲ fiber decreases and the surface roughness increases;the tensile strength of the fiber increases from 3.54 GPa to4.39 GPa,an increase of 24%;the wear time increases from 26.4s to 40.7s,an increase of54.2%.At the same time, the storage modulus and crystallinity of the fiber increase, and the crystal size decreases slightly, which is beneficial to the improvement of the mechanical properties of the fiber.Secondly,Secondly, the aramid Ⅲ fiber bundle was cryogenically treated to characterize its wear resistance. The results show that under the same friction conditions, the cryogenic aramid Ⅲ fiber bundle has fewer broken fibers, and the remaining fineness and residual breaking strength of the main fiber bundle are higher;the abrasion resistance time of the fiber bundle increases from 81.3s to105.8s,an increase of 30.1%.In addition, the aramid Ⅲ fiber bundle was repeatedly rubbed, and it was found that the number of hairiness(harmful hairiness)above 3 mm in the fiber bundle after cryogenic treatment was reduced by about50%,and the wear resistance was improved. Finally, aramid fabrics were woven on a sample loom using aramid Ⅲ fiber bundles, and the fabrics were cut into suitable samples, and the wear resistance of the fabrics was tested after cryogenic treatment. The results show that under the same external force friction, the surface of the cryogenic aramid Ⅲ fabric has fewer hairs and fewer broken fibers. When the number of frictions is 900 times, the fabric surface has not yet formed a large hole;when the number of friction circles was 400,the mass of the aramid Ⅲ fabric decreased from0.7736 g and 0.7460 g to 0.7252 g and 0.7104 g respectively before and after cryogenic cooling, and the mass loss rates were 6.2% and 4.8%,respectively.Wear resistance has been significantly improved.Based on the research results of this paper,it is found that cryogenic treatment can significantly improve the wear resistance of aramid Ⅲ fibers and their fabrics, which not only helps to broaden the application fields and research prospects of aramid Ⅲ fibers, but also provides a basis for the modification research in the fiber field.new ideas and methods. |
