In the face of the significant impact of driver fatigue on the operation safety of extra-long highway tunnels,this paper investigates the characteristics of driver fatigue in extra-long highway tunnels,design method of the fatigue-relieving light belt,and verification of relieving effect and driving safety of the light belt based on the Yanglin extra-long highway tunnel in the southeast section of Kunming beltway.By comprehensively adopting the literature review,indoor driving simulation test,real-road driving test,and theoretical analysis,the main results of this paper are as follows:1.The characteristic index of driver fatigue in extra-long highway tunnels is established based on the electrocardiogram(ECG)indexes,driving performance index,and subjective rating index of fatigue.By conducting a series of real-road driving tests and driving simulation tests,the variation characteristic of self-rating grade and time-dependent variation law of the EEG indexes and reaction time are obtained.The relationship between the cumulative index of driver fatigue and driving time and the relationship between the reaction time and cumulative index of driver fatigue are established on the basis of the dimension reduction of the ECG indexes.Driver fatigue in extra-long highway tunnels is clarified.2.The design method of the fatigue-relieving light belt in extra-long highway tunnels is proposed.The design of the position is proposed based on the rapid growth position of the cumulative index of driver fatigue and safety threshold of the reaction time.The design of the length is proposed according to the fatigue-relieving effect and traffic safety requirements.The design of the luminance is proposed on the basis of the provision of visual stimulation and light-dark visual adaptation law.3.By conducting real-road driving tests after installing the light belt,the variation characteristic of self-rating grade and time-dependent variation law of the EEG indexes are obtained,and the reaction time is calculated,which verifies the fatigue-relieving effect of the light belt.The distribution laws of driver’s gaze and visit indexes in six visual areas of interest in the light belt zone and interior zone are obtained,and the influence of the light belt on visual characteristics is clarified,which verifies the driving safety of the light belt.The above research results in this paper are applied to the Yanglin extra-long tunnel,and they can also provide references for the design and evaluation of the fatigue-relieving light belt in other similar extra-long highway tunnels.
