In the critical period of China’s economic development and transformation,environmental problems need to be solved urgently.Green development has become an important driving force for economic growth and high-quality development.Green innovation is an important way to alleviate environmental problems and realize green development.As the main body of corporate decision-making,the TMT’s attention to environmental issues has an important impact on corporate green innovation.Green innovation,as the innovation that best fits the environmental theme,reflects the characteristics of enterprises’ attention and action tendency.The necessity and urgency of improving enterprises’ environmental performance are increasing day by day.How to generate green innovation practice within enterprises and how it can be transformed into environmental performance of enterprises have always been in the “black box” to be opened.Based on the attention-based view and the top echelon theory,this paper uses the selected 1744 effective sample data of Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share manufacturing listed companies from 2013 to 2020,constructs the method of TMT’s environmental attention,and combines the econometric regression model to empirically test the relationship between the TMT’s environmental attention and corporate environmental performance.The mediating effect of corporate green innovation and the moderating effect of organizational redundancy and government subsidies on the green innovation practice process of executives’ environmental attention are also discussed.The following conclusions were drawn: TMT’s environmental attention has a significant positive effect on corporate environmental performance;TMT’s environmental attention has a significant positive effect on green technology innovation and green management innovation;Green technology innovation and green management innovation have significant positive effects on corporate environmental performance.TMT’s environmental attention promotes environmental performance of enterprises through green technology innovation and green management innovation;Organizational slack plays a positive mediating role in the relationship between TMT’s environmental attention and green technology innovation and green management innovation.Government subsidies play a positive mediating role in the relationship between TMT’s environmental attention and green technology innovation and green management innovation.The positive moderating effect of government subsidies on the relationship between TMT’s environmental attention and green technology innovaton is more significant.This paper broadens the research boundary of the attention-based view,analyzes the positive relationship between TMT’s environmental attention,corporate green innovation and corporate environmental performance.It also broadens the research idea of driving corporate green technology innovation and management innovation practice at the level of TMT,and promoting the improvement of corporate environmental performance.It also enriches the relevant research on corporate green innovation strategic actions and environmental performance based on the cognitive perspective of the executive team.Based on the resource-based view,the moderating effects of organizational slack and government subsidies on the green innovation selection process were investigated,which enriched the research on green innovation situational factors.In addition,this conclusions of this study have important practical guiding significance for the allocation of TMT’s attention,the improvement of corporate green innovation efficiency,the improvement of corporate environmental performance,the utilization of slack and the acquisition of government subsidies.
