Outdoor Seating Design In Campus Culture

Campus outdoor sitting as a material carrier of campus culture transmission,is not only a part of campus culture,to improve the function of campus outdoor facilities,highlight the characteristics of the school,foil campus culture has an important significance.Taking Central South University of Forestry and Technology as an example,this paper introduces campus culture into the design of outdoor seats,and puts forward the principles and strategies of using campus culture to design outdoor seats.This paper defines the connotation and expression basis of campus culture and outdoor seating design,discusses the relationship between them,and summarizes the categories and design characteristics of outdoor seating.It also puts forward five design principles,including integrating into the spiritual core of campus culture,highlighting school and professional characteristics,spreading the school’s discipline advantages and achievements,reflecting the spiritual outlook of teachers and students,and realizing the basic requirements of environmental education.It is pointed out that the campus culture of Central South University of Forestry and Technology has the characteristics of inheritance,particularity,innovation and inclusiveness.In order to solve the problems of campus outdoor seat is insufficient cultural attributes,function setting does not meet the needs,and disharmony with the actual environment,it is proposed that the design strategy of outdoor seats in the campus should follow the"history" as the base,the "forestry" as the soul,the "education" as the target,the"teachers and students" as the base,and the "diversity" as the supplement.In this paper,from three perspectives,such as history and culture,professional characteristics and behavioral characteristics,three representative scenes in the campus are selected to make the design scheme of campus outdoor sitting equipment,such as tree ring,ingenuity,supreme beauty and tree man.This study can provide reference for the construction of campus cultural environment in universities.
