Study On The Influence Of Baroque Style On Qing Furniture

Throughout the development history of human furniture culture,only the two furniture systems of China and Europe can truly form a complete and clear historical context of furniture development.Europeans from the 17th to the 18th century called the Baroque and Rococo periods the golden age of "Western style furniture",which represented the most advanced design concepts and production techniques at that time.It was rapidly popularized worldwide and achieved great success;The Qing style furniture that partially overlaps with it is also the heyday of Chinese classical furniture,with exquisite craftsmanship,excellent material selection,and reasonable structure,known as the "classic of Chinese furniture".Through comparison,it is not difficult to find numerous similarities in artistic style and forms of expression between the two,but they have developed their own style characteristics due to differences in time,space,region,and culture,and thus become two shining pearls in the history of classical furniture in the world.This is precisely the result of cultural exchange and collision between China and the West.By using the methods of literature research,induction and summary,iconography analysis,and field research,this paper systematically combs the historical causes,historical background,style evolution at different stages,and artistic characteristics of the two most representative furniture styles,Baroque furniture and Qing style furniture,While constructing an understanding of different furniture styles,it is convenient to clarify the common parts of the interweaving and overlapping of Eastern and Western furniture in different regional cultures and historical backgrounds,and to clarify the key periods and directions of research on the impact of Baroque furniture on Qing style furniture;Starting from the macro perspectives of political economy,cultural exchange,productivity level,and aesthetic concepts,this study aims to find supporting arguments for the inevitable connection and influence between the two,and extract historical facts about the integration of Chinese and Western styles of Qing style furniture,laying the foundation for the research on the impact of Baroque furniture style on Qing style furniture style in this topic.Regarding the study of the impact of Baroque style on Qing style furniture,from the perspectives of decorative materials,decorative techniques,and decorative patterns,literature research,image analysis,and induction summary methods are used to analyze and summarize the specific empirical evidence of the impact of Baroque furniture style on Qing style furniture style.In terms of decorative materials,Qing style furniture is influenced by Western Baroque style,and materials such as enamel and glass are applied to the decorative art of Qing style furniture;In terms of decoration techniques,Qing style furniture,influenced by the Baroque style,pays more attention to the complexity,fullness,brightness,and three-dimensional sense of carving decoration.Circular carving techniques are applied to the decorative components of furniture,but the overall craftsmanship and shape of furniture are still a continuation of Chinese style furniture;In terms of decorative patterns,the application of Western patterns such as passion flower patterns and curly grass patterns in the flourishing Qing style furniture fully reflects the furniture form of the fusion of China and the West in the context of the era.It is summarized that although Qing style furniture fully draws on the artistic expression forms of Baroque furniture in furniture decoration,the similarities and differences in the emotions conveyed by the two.Through the study of the influence of Baroque style on Qing style furniture,we hope to provide additional evidence for the formation and influence path of Baroque style on Qing style furniture,and provide certain reference and direction for future researchers.
