Since the reform and opening up,our economy has developed rapidly,but the industrialization process inevitably brought about the deterioration of ecological environment,among which the greenhouse effect is one of the most prominent problems.A series of human activities,mainly the large amount of carbon dioxide produced by burning fossil fuels,has led to significant global warming.Therefore,as the second largest source of greenhouse gases in the world,China has also made a series of major strategic decisions on carbon peak and carbon neutrality.As an industry with the most carbon emissions,manufacturing enterprises are bound to improve environmental performance while maintaining their competitive advantages,which has aroused the interest of academic researchers and entrepreneurs.As the core technology leading the digital future and promoting the industrial revolution,artificial intelligence technology can empower the whole chain of manufacturing enterprises and accelerate the fundamental change of the production mode and enterprise form.We will guide enterprises to integrate artificial intelligence with green and low-carbon technologies,improve energy efficiency,and help achieve the vision and goal of carbon reduction.However,there is little existing literature to clarify the mechanism of artificial intelligence orientation of enterprises in reducing carbon emissions,and there is also a lack of reliable empirical research results.Therefore,this paper starts from the consistent strategic orientation of artificial intelligence,and discusses the influencing factors and internal mechanisms of the new round of environmental performance from the perspective of technological innovation and external environmental control.This paper systematically combs the specific meanings and previous studies of the four variables of artificial intelligence orientation,green technology innovation,environmental regulation and carbon emission.Based on the theory of strategic management,the theory of technological innovation and the theory of low carbon economy,this paper proposes the research hypothesis and builds the corresponding theoretical model.In order to verify the correlation between variables,this paper selects5,796 observed values from 966 A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen during 2015-2020 as research objects.Stata16 software was used to conduct descriptive statistics and correlation analysis,regression analysis,heterogeneity analysis,endogeneity test and robustness test of the data set,so as to obtain the relationship between artificial intelligence orientation,green technology innovation,environmental regulation and carbon emissions.The empirical analysis results show that:(1)Enterprise artificial intelligence orientation and green technology innovation will have obvious inhibitory influence on carbon emission;(2)Artificial intelligence orientation can effectively promote the enhancement of green technology innovation;(3)Green technology innovation has the intermediary effect between artificial intelligence orientation and carbon emission;(4)Environmental regulation positively regulates the relationship between green technology innovation and carbon emission.Finally,based on the above data analysis results,the theoretical contribution and management implications of this study are obtained,and the research limitations and future research directions of this paper are proposed.
