Carbon fiber is an inorganic polymer material composed of stacked crystalline graphite layers with excellent mechanical properties,electrical conductivity,thermal stability,high corrosion resistance and friction resistance.Carbon fiber has a wide range of applications in aerospace,national defense,sports,electronics,environmental protection and other fields.With the improvement and diversification of people’s aesthetic needs,the inherent black appearance of carbon fiber materials can no longer meet people’s needs.Because of the lack of highly reactive chemical groups on the surface of carbon fibers,it is difficult to color carbon fibers with traditional dyes.Therefore,the theory of carbon fiber coloring and structural color are combined.At present,many methods,including electrophoretic deposition method,in-situ polymerization method,and thermogravimetric sedimentation method,have been used to color carbon fibers.But the color carbon fibers prepared by these methods are uniform in color and poor in quality.Although both atomic layer deposition and magnetron sputtering overcome the problems of bond fastness and uniformity.the long time for coloring carbon fibers by such methods limits the industrial development of carbon fiber coloring.In addition,these methods for coloring carbon fibers have been reported in the literature,which only produce a certain single-color carbon fiber.There is no one-step method to prepare gradient-colored carbon fibers.Therefore,this paper proposes three strategies to prepare colored carbon fiber materials.Firstly,a polymer film of a certain thickness is deposited on the surface of carbon fiber fabrics by using the initiating chemical vapor deposition technology,so that the carbon fiber fabrics presents brilliant colors.By analyzing the optical properties and film thickness of colored carbon fiber fabrics under different heating wire temperatures,working distances and deposition times,we can draw the best results when the heating wire temperature is about 160℃ and the working distance is about 50 mm.In addition,different colors of colored carbon fiber fabrics can be obtained by adjusting the depositing time.This method has the advantages of high deposition rate and good shape retention,which lays the foundation for the large-scale preparation of colored carbon fiber fabrics.Secondly,a layer of Al2O3film with gradient thickness was constructed on the surface of carbon fiber by atomic layer deposition technology.By adjusting the continuous change of the pulse time of trimethylaluminum in one cycle,the regulation of the thickness change of the carbon fiber surface is realized,and the gradient color carbon fiber fabric with good shape retention and high fastness is prepared.In the sample CFF-10×300,the thickness of the carbon fiber varies from 140 nm to 380 nm in different positions of the carbon fiber from the air outlet to the air inlet,and the thickness increases continuously along the axial direction of the carbon fiber.The color distribution of the gradient color carbon fiber can be controlled by adjusting the number of cycles,and the color distribution range is wider as the number of cycles increases.Finally,on the basis of the work in the previous chapter,a layer of Al2O3/ZnO one-dimensional photonic crystal film was constructed on the surface of carbon fiber by atomic layer deposition.One-dimensional photonic crystal is formed by alternating deposition of Al2O3thin films with gradient thickness and ZnO thin films with uniform thickness in two period..By adjusting the thickness of the ZnO thin layer,the color of the gradient color carbon fiber fabric is regulated,and the gradient color carbon fiber cloth with bright color,good shape retention and high fastness is prepared.In addition,the graded color carbon fiber cloth based on one-dimensional photonic crystals has excellent electrical heating performance and low-voltage driveability,and has great application prospects in thermal management.
