Plastic Art And Design Practice Of Lion Pattern On Traditional Textiles

Since ancient times,the traditional lion plastic art has been an important part of the multicultural structure of the Chinese nation,especially in the history of Chinese art development.Its artistic form and cultural connotation not only reflect the traditional aesthetic consciousness and values of the Chinese nation,but also reflect the blending of social and cultural customs and the change of historical background.The traditional lion plastic art has the artistic style and expression form with the characteristics of the times in all historical periods of China.It has been used and evolved for a long time in many specific carriers.Especially in textile clothing and accessories,it shows the multiple application of techniques,the multiple expression of pattern modeling,the multiple combination of pattern decoration and the multiple expression of auspicious semantics,which greatly enriches the pattern composition of traditional textiles.This paper mainly takes the lion pattern plastic art on traditional textiles as the research topic,takes the handed down lion pattern textiles collected in major museums at home and abroad mainly in the folk clothing transmission Hall of Jiangnan University as the research support,and uses various methods such as statistical analysis,field investigation,comparative induction,image drawing,design practice and so on.Firstly,the statistical analysis method is used to statistically analyze the 118 samples of all kinds of handed down lion pattern textiles collected,which are sorted and summarized from the perspective of dynasties and categories,so as to lay a solid and credible academic foundation for the historical evolution analysis of lion pattern modeling and plastic art research.Secondly,combined with ancient books and documents and unearthed cultural relics image data,the historical origin of the lion pattern on textiles is traced.Then,combined with the background of the times and the humanistic environment,this paper vertically compares and analyzes the modeling characteristics of lion patterns on textiles from Han to Qing Dynasty,and then explains its evolution process and internal influencing factors.Thirdly,using the method of field investigation,this paper mainly collects,shoots and draws the traditional lion pattern textiles of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China in the folk clothing collection of Jiangnan University,horizontally summarizes and analyzes its modeling characteristics,then summarizes the modeling law,and excavates the cultural connotation from the perspective of subject matter and content.Finally,according to the application status and case analysis of traditional lion pattern plastic art in modern design,this paper summarizes the application principles and methods of traditional lion pattern plastic art,and explores the innovative way of applying lion pattern plastic art in traditional textiles to modern art design through a series of design practices.The research shows that the lion pattern on traditional textiles has a long inheritance history,changeable modeling style and multiple cultural semantic characteristics.It originated from the Silk Road and gradually realized the localization,diversification and popularization of the lion pattern from the Han Dynasty to the northern and Southern Dynasties,to the "integration of China and the west" in the Sui and Tang Dynasties,to the "difference between the north and the South" in the song and Yuan Dynasties,and to the "upper and lower factions" in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.To the Republic of China,it is a collection of ancient lion pattern plastic arts and the creative wisdom of folk women.The lion patterns on traditional textiles are rich and diverse,and there are many changes in their combination number,expression and posture,composition form and so on.However,there are certain modeling rules,such as mixing the characteristics of tiger or cat,using modeling techniques such as grafting and deformation,three-dimensional treatment,point,line and surface decorative elements,etc.At the same time,different themes and contents have different cultural connotations.For example,"double lions rolling Hydrangea" conveys the auspicious meaning of good things in pairs,"five poisons in Shihu town" expresses the blessing demands of protecting children and students,"lion and BUN grabbing Doll" contains the concept of heavy inheritance of praying for children and many children,"Shihu and taking the lead" has the official worship thought of expecting children to become famous.In short,this topic aims to verify the feasibility of the application of lion pattern plastic art on traditional textiles to modern art design and its reference and learning value to modern art design through a series of design practices.
