Nitrogen-doped porous carbons have a lot of advantage and have been used in many fields.Due to their defects and good electrical conductivity, they have the potential to become anode materials for alkali metal ion batteries. What’s more, because of their rich pore structure and high surface area, they have been widely used in the research of electrode materials for supercapacitors. In order to apply in different systems,it is necessary to design a preparation process with simple technology and easily controlled conditions. In this paper,we used p-phenylenediamine and ferric nitrate as the raw materials, through a simple method to prepare the precursor, after carbonization and pickling to get a nitrogen-doped porous carbon materials. The effect of heat treatment temperature on the composition and structure of porous carbon was investigated to determine the appropriate preparation conditions, and then the electrochemical performance of the prepared materials as electrode materials for lithium/sodium ion batteries and supercapacitors was characterized and evaluated by regulating the carbonization temperature. After carbonization and pickling of the precursor at different temperatures, the carbon materials obtained are amorphous carbons, which present a lamellar stacked structure with well-developed pores, and the specific surface area is up to 526 m2 g-1.As the carbonization temperature increases from 500℃to 900℃,the degree of order of the materials increases. The pore shrinkage makes the materials more dense when the temperature increases to 900℃.NPC-700 has good electrochemical performance when it is used in the lithium-ion battery in the same conditions such as raw material proportion and reaction time at room temperature. When it is used as the anode material, the specific capacity of NPC-700 still has 365 m Ah g-1 when the current density reaches one A g-1 with 100 cycles. If we use the NPC-500 as anode of sodium ion battery, the NPC-500shows higher specific capacity and cycle stability at low current density, and the specific capacity of initial discharge can reach 245 m Ah g-1 at low current density of 100 m A g-1.NPC-700 shows a good rate performance, and the reversible capacity can reach 60 m Ah g-1 at a current density of 10 A g-1.If we use the NPC as the electrode of three-electrode supercapacitor,NPC-600 has good performance, and the specific capacitance is up to 194.04F g-1 at 500 m A g-1.The specific capacitance of NPC-700 is the highest at the current density of 10 A g-1,and it still has a capacitance of 169.92 F g-1 after100 cycles of discharge.
