Enterprise Carbon Productivity,urban Business Environment And Export Product Quality

Since the reform and opening up,China has made full use of its comparative advantages and actively participated in the international economic cycle.It has gradually become a large manufacturing country and occupies an important position in the global value chain.China’s economy has shifted from the stage of rapid growth to the stage of high-quality development.We must comply with the people’s expectations for a good ecological environment and promote the formation of a new way of green and low-carbon circular development.Manufacturing industry is a key area for implementing the basic national policy of saving resources and protecting the environment.Green development is not only an important direction for the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry,but also an internal requirement for the high-quality development of manufacturing industry.Under the background of China’s efforts to promote the high-quality development of manufacturing industry,this paper studies whether the improvement of carbon productivity of manufacturing enterprises helps to improve the quality of export products,and tests whether there are significant differences in the impact of carbon productivity on the quality of export products under different urban business environments.In terms of theoretical analysis,this paper believes that enterprise carbon productivity can have a direct impact on the quality of export products,and can also have an indirect impact on the quality of export products through trade product structure,enterprise competition,technological innovation and crowding out effect.Comprehensively,improving enterprise carbon productivity is helpful to improve the quality of export products.At the same time,in different business environments,the impact of enterprise carbon productivity on the quality of export products is different.In a better business environment,improving carbon productivity plays a more significant role in improving the quality of export products.In the empirical research,this paper calculates the enterprise carbon productivity and the enterprise export product quality through appropriate indicators,uses the matching of China’s industrial enterprise database and customs database to sort out the enterprise level panel data from 2001 to 2013,mainly uses the enterprise level micro data to study the impact of enterprise carbon productivity on the export product quality,and introduces the urban business environment index as the adjustment variable.The empirical study found that whether using mixed OLS,fixed effect regression,or twoway fixed effect regression that controls the individual effect and time effect of enterprises at the same time,the enterprise carbon productivity has a significant positive effect on the quality of export products;The regression results of introducing the cross product term of carbon productivity and business environment are also significant,indicating that the urban business environment plays a regulatory role.Based on the results of theoretical and empirical analysis,this paper puts forward some policy suggestions on improving enterprise carbon productivity,adjusting energy consumption structure and improving urban business environment,so as to improve the quality of export products.
