Abstract/Summary:
Oyama wilsonii,which belongs to Magnoliaceae family Oyama genus,is found in the mountains and forests of central and western Sichuan province and northern Yunnan province at altitudes of 1900-3300 meters.The fragrant flowers of Oyama wilsonii are of high landscaping value,but because of its weak natural reproduction ability,the wild population is endangered and is a second-class protected wild plant in China.In this paper,the wild population of Oyama wilsonii in Huadianba,Cangshan Mountain,was studied for its flowering phenology,flowering characteristics,flowering dynamics,pollination biology,seed characteristics and aseptic germination,and the reasons for the endangerment of Oyama wilsonii were systematically analyzed from the perspective of reproduction ecology.The aim is to provide a theoretical basis for the conservation of the wild Oyama wilsonii.The results of the study showed that:1.The flowering period of Oyama wilsonii is from mid-April to the end of April,the flowering period is in early and mid-May,and the last flowering period is in late May and early June.The flowering period of a single flower can be divided into the bud swelling stage,the flower opening stage,the full blooming stage and the flower withering stage.2.Oyama wilsonii visibly showed dichogamy and herkogamy characteristics.3.The breeding system of Oyama wilsonii is xenogamy.The pollen-ovule ratio(P/O)was 17756-20775 and the outcrossing index(OCI)was 4.The results of artificial pollination experiments showed that Oyama wilsonii had some ability to self-fertilize.4.The major flower visiting insects of Oyama wilsonii are Apidae,Bombidae and Syrphidae,among which Apis cerana is the most effective pollinator of Oyama wilsonii.5.The seeds of Oyama wilsonii have red fleshy aril and black outer testa,which is relatively hard.80% of the seeds are viable according to TTC staining experiments.6.The results of the aseptic germination experiments showed that the germination rate was higher when the outer seed coat was removed and cultured in a dark environment.The most suitable disinfection method for seeds with the seed coat removed was 1% citric acid for 2 min,followed by 0.1% HgCl2 for 15 min.
