The problem of free will runs through the whole history of philosophy and belongs to one of the classical problems of philosophy. The research on it has been very rich and has formed many approaches. However, most of the previous studies are based on the framework of classical physics, which leads to the contradiction between freedom and determinism in classical physics has not been satisfactorily solved.Since the early 20th century, the birth and development of quantum mechanics has greatly influenced philosophy, reshaping the way we see the world. In this context,a new approach to the problem of free will appears, that is,the approach of many-worlds interpretation. However, this interpretation approach has not attracted enough attention in domestic academic circles. This paper focuses on the interpretation and analysis of this new approach. The main contents are as follows:(1)By explaining how classical physics affects the solution of the problem of free will and how quantum mechanics is related to the problem of free will, the transcendence of the many-worlds interpretation approach relative to the classical solution of free will is analyzed.(2)Based on the analysis and comparison of several viewpoints within the multi-worlds interpretation approach, explain their position in the interpretation of quantum mechanics.(3)Focus on the analysis of Deutsch, the main advocate of the many-worlds interpretation,on how to use the many-worlds interpretation approach to solve the problem of free will, including how he restored the free will to the physical fact in the many-worlds,how to transform the traditional view of time and space.(4)To comprehensively explain how the problem of free will can be better explained under the approach of many-worlds interpretation, including the change of the meaning of determinism,Dennett’s compatibilism treatment and the response to the problem of moral responsibility.(5)Further discussion on some remaining problems in the approach of many-worlds interpretation, including the revision and supplement of Deutsch’s free will interpretation, the distinction between many-worlds and possible worlds, etc.Through the interpretation and analysis of the many-worlds explanation approach of free will, this paper concludes that although there are some problems and deficiencies in this approach,it is not only compatible with contemporary scientific theories, but also has more advantages and more reasonable than other explanations.
