Antenna plays an important role in wireless communication system.In the wireless local area networks(WLAN),multi-input multi-output(MIMO)systems,radio frequency identification(RFID)and other application scenarios,antennas with fine structure and excellent performance can meet the development direction of miniaturization of wireless systems,save costs,improve and achieve cost-effective performance.Metamaterials have extraordinary physical properties that broaden the regulation and control function of traditional materials on electromagnetic waves.It has obvious advantages in improving the directivity of antennas,increasing radiation gain,and realizing miniaturization design of antennas.Based on the design idea of metamaterials,this paper studies the structure and performance of antenna,and the main contents are as follows:First,a dual-band 3D electrically small antenna based on split ring resonator is proposed,which has small size and works in low frequency bands.The modeling process of this small antenna using CST software is introduced in detail.Then,the important parameters of the small antenna structure are optimized,and the optimized antenna can work at 0.789 GHz and 1.183 GHz,which is consistent with the actually manufactured and tested antenna.Its electromagnetic performance parameters are analyzed theoretically.Second,a dual-band antenna for WLAN based on metamaterial structure is designed.The simulation results show that the CPW-fed antenna can work at 2.326-2.859 GHz and 4.995-5.854 GHz and the gain can reach 3.500 dBi and 3.530 dBi respectively,which not only covers the working frequency band of WLAN,but also the radiation energy of the proposed antenna is relatively concentrated.The structural parameters of CPW-fed antenna are analyzed,and its principle is explained.Finally,the performance of the CPW-fed antenna is verified by experiments,which verifies its practical application value and potential.
