Taxonomic Revision Of Ilex(Aquifoliaceae) From Fujian

The Ilex L.is the largest known woody dioecious genus(>400 spp.)as the monogeneric Aquifoliaceae in the world,and more than 40 species have been recorded in Fujian.Although Cangjiang Zeng has made a comprehensive revision of the genus Ilex L.from Fujian,some taxonomic problems is still unsolved.In this study,taxonomic revision of Ilex(Aquifoliaceae)from Fujian was carried out by referring to the original literature,studying the type specimens and other specimens,combining with multidisciplinary approach such as field population observation,micromorphology,statistical methods and molecular systematics.The main research results were showed as following:forty-one species of Ilex.L were identified in Fujian;four synonyms are newly proposed,i.e Ilex macrocarpa Oliv.var.brevipedunculata S.Y.Hu as a synonym of Ilex macrocarpa Oliv,Ilex ningdeensis C.J.Tseng and Ilex nanpingensis G.S.He as two synonyms of Ilex uraiensis Mori et Yamamoto,Ilex fukienensis S.Y.Hu f.puberula C.J.Tseng as a synonym of Ilex oligodonta Merr.et Chun.The lectotype of Ilex macrocarpa Oliv.var.brevipedunculata S.Y.Hu,Ilex ningdeensis C.J.Tseng,and Ilex formosana Maxim.var.ruijinensis C.J.Tseng are designated.A new Variant species are discovered and described,i.e.Ilex formosana var.tsengii Zhiwei Mao&Xueliang Hou.The Ilex macrocarpa Oliv has been excluded from Fujian,and the Ilex bioritsensis Hayata has been added as the new records.
