In the "Chinese Room" argument,Searle realized the separation of calculation and semantics by comparing calculation with syntax and attributing semantics to intentionality.If "syntax is not enough to generate semantics" is the premise of the "Chinese Room" argument,then "syntax does not have causal power" and "syntax is relative to the observer" are the premises of Chinese argumentation.Searle gradually refuted the core view of strong artificial intelligence in the "Chinese Room" argument through this argument structure: computers that follow symbolic representation operations can never achieve semantic understanding.Although Searle's intentional semantics rejects computational semantics,computational representationalism,which takes the thought language hypothesis as the theoretical core,gently accepts the attributional interpretation of intentionality to semantics,but it is different from Searle's internalism of intentionality.Computational representationalism attempts to explain intentionality in an externalistic form,but it also exposes their respective dilemmas: for intentional semantics,if intentionality is determined by the biological characteristics of the brain Yes,then the semantic characteristics of the intentional state are also determined by the biological characteristics of the brain,but Searle did not explain how neurobiological processes guarantee the content and patterns of the semantic characteristics of the mental state.Judging from the current experience,the brain is not a sufficient condition for achieving the intentional state to obtain semantics,but only provides the necessary conditions.The semantic characteristics are wider than the range of the brain's neurophysiological processes;for computational semantics,if the mind is only performing calculation operations on the symbolic symbols,then this at best only guarantees the cognitive function of the mind,and cannot realize the referent and the truth value.The semantic function and semantic characteristics of the semaphore are wider than the formal rules of computational representation.Although computational semantics has transitioned from syntactic representation to semantic representation,semantics still cannot be generated from the observance of semantic rules and the formal manipulation of symbols.Regarding the dilemma of intentional semantics and computational semantics,the article finally gives a novel theoretical solution: starting from the normativeness of semantics,it points out that under the path of naturalistic semantics,intentional semantics theory and computational semantics theory are both ideas.The primacy view of semantics,and language,as the element of communication in practice,must not be explained only from the reduction level of the mind.Accordingly,this article introduces inferential semantics,reveals the rationalistic expressionist dimension of language at the primacy level of language,and shows the level of social practice clarified by language inference.Language is not only a representation in the mind,but also not only a congenital symbolic construction,but is gradually generated in the communication and interaction with the external world when co-evolving with living things,and thus can have the semantic characteristic of referring to the external world.The representationalism of empiricism needs to be revised by rational expressionism,so that the semantic nature can be grasped from the two levels of thought and language.
