Tactile sense is an important channel for people to obtain information from the surrounding environments.Compared with visual and auditory sense,it has unique advantages and can replace both to express information in an environment that is not conducive to visual sense and auditory sense.Studying the perception mechanism of tactile information is helpful for better research on the expression of tactile information.As an important research content in the mechanism of tactile perception,tactile short-term memory refers to the ability to retain a limited number of tactile stimuli in a short period of time,which determines people's accurate perception of a certain amount of tactile information.In this paper,a vibro-tactile expression device and a visual-tactile expression device were used to carry out an experiment on the short-term memory characteristics of finger vibro-tactile perception and an experiment on the effect of visual stimuli on the short-term memory characteristics of finger vibro-tactile perception,respectively,to obtain the relevant characteristics of the short-term memory of human finger vibro-tactile perception.The main contents and conclusions are as follows:Two experimental devices,vibro-tactile expression device and visual-tactile expression device,were designed,which were divided into two parts,hardware system design and software system design.The vibro-tactile expression device can present vibro-tactile stimuli of different intervals,different durations and different intensities.The visual-tactile expression device can simultaneously present visual stimuli and vibro-tactile stimuli of different durations and different patterns.The designed experimental devices have a simple structure,can provide the required stimulus for the experiment and meet the experimental needs of this paper.A short-term memory experiment of human finger vibro-tactile perception was carried out to study the effects of discrete interval and duration of vibro-tactile stimuli,and gender on the short-term memory characteristics of finger vibro-tactile perception.The results showed:(1)The vibro-tactile memory span of human fingertip is 4±1.(2)The vibro-tactile memory span increases as the discrete interval between vibration stimuli increases.(3)Too long or too short vibration duration will reduce the vibro-tactile memory span,and the optimal vibration duration for men is 400 ms,for women is 300 ms.(4)The more the number of vibration stimuli is perceived by the human fingertip,the lower the recognition accuracy and the longer the reaction time it needs.(5)Compared with the vibration stimuli in disorder,people are more likely to remember the vibration stimuli in increasing/decreasing order.(6)The information extraction mechanism of the short-term memory about fingertip vibro-tactile perception bases a point to point scanning process among these stimuli.These results help to understand the human finger tactile characteristics and provide a physiological basis for the study of tactile feedback technologies.A experiment on the short-term memory characteristics of human finger vibro-tactile perception under different visual stimuli conditions was carried out to study the effects of stimuli patterns,durations of visual stimuli and gender on the short-term memory of finger vibro-tactile perception.The results showed:(1)The characteristics of finger vibro-tactile perception under the condition of positive visual stimuli are better than those under the condition of negative visual stimuli.(2)Under the condition of positive visual stimuli,male subjects had better vibro-tactile perception than female subjects;under the condition of negative visual stimuli,female subjects had better vibro-tactile perception than male subjects.(3)Different duration of visual stimuli had different effects on the memory span of finger vibro-tactile stimuli perception.(4)The pattern and duration of visual stimuli have an interactive effect on the short-term memory of finger vibro-tactile perception.These experimental results are helpful to understand the influence mechanism of visual stimuli on the characteristics of human finger vibro-tactile perception.At the same time,it also shows that the perception information of visual sense and tactile sense is not a simple fusion,and there is an influence relationship between them.
