In cognitive radio sensor network(CRSN),routing protocols can realize the effective transmission of monitoring data.Compared with flat routing protocols, clustering routing protocols can significantly reduce the complexity of routing selection and the end-to-end transmission delay of data packets as well as improving the scalability of the network. Therefore, clustering routing protocol design for CRSN has received extensive attention from academic community.According to types of driving services, clustering routing protocols for CRSN can be divided into time-triggered and event-driven routing protocols, both of which have their own advantages.Specifically, the timed-triggered clustering routing protocols have the advantage of guaranteeing the continuous monitoring of the network, while the event-driven clustering routing protocols are triggered by specific events, which are more useful in saving energy. In order to serve two types of services at the same time and ensure the timely delivery of emergency information, this paper proposes a business-driven clustering routing protocol for CRSN.The specific research contents are listed below:Firstly, there is only one input parameter of the ions motion optimization(IMO)algorithm, which is the number of populations, and its process is easy to implement. Therefore,it is very suitable to solve the clustering problems.Based on IMO,this paper proposes a time-triggered clustering routing protocol for CRSN,which is called IMOCRP(Ions Motion Optimization-based Clustering Routing Protocol).IMOCRP clusters the network with the goal of minimizing total node energy consumption and balancing the remaining energy among nodes while adapting to the dynamics of the spectrum usage.Simulation results show that IMOCRP is significantly better than existing time-triggered protocols in terms of improving network usage time and packet delivery ratio, adapting to the dynamic access of primary users, reducing data packet transmission delay, reducing computational complexity and improving energy coverage efficiency.Secondly,on the basis of IMOCRP,BD-IMOCRP(Business-Driven IMOCRP)protocol is proposed.BD-IMOCRP adopts a special Fr frame structure, which can be applied to both time-triggered and event-driven services. It guarantees the timely delivery of event-driven business data which has a great impact on the network. Therefore, the application range of BD-IMOCRP is more extensive. The simulation results show that BD-IMOCRP is superior to the existing event-driven clustering routing protocols for CRSN in terms of reducing node energy consumption and event information transmission delay. Its ability of serving time-triggered services is similar to that of IMOCRP,which is obviously superior to most existing time-triggered clustering routing protocols for CRSN.In a word, the two types of services are better served by BD-IMOCRP.In this paper,we deeply reseach on the clustering routing protocol design problem for CRSN,and propose clustering routing protocols which can serve the time-triggered and event-driven services simultaneously. These protocols can conquer the limitations of current research results which can only serve one service type. The research results in this paper can help improve overall network performance and guarantee the timely delivery of monitoring data in CRSN.
