In this era of information explosion, people's communication is no longer satisfied with the transmission of a single type of information, and the demand for transmission of multiple services is increasing. This article is based on a specific communication project and aims to solve the key problem that the quality of service cannot be guaranteed at the same time when multiple services are transmitted in the current wireless local area network.Due to its high throughput and low cost, wireless local area networks have quickly become popular among users. The diversification of services has made the quality of service diversified, which puts forward higher requirements for the performance of wireless local area networks.Since the IEEE 802.11 series of standards are the most widely used wireless local area network standards, this article uses the IEEE 802.11 protocol as the basic framework to improve and design a MAC protocol suitable for multi-service scenarios. This article first introduces the IEEE 802.11 MAC layer access protocol in detail. The focus is on the distributed coordination function access mechanism and CSMA/CA.Next,the IEEE 802.11 MAC layer access protocol is used to perform performance simulations in terms of average delay, collision probability, failure probability, throughput, and delay jitter in a multi-service scenario.Based on the simulation results, its inadequacy in multi-service scenarios is analyzed. In view of these problems, this article introduces the distributed TDMA protocol. Then, the two protocols are combined organically to propose a service-aware multiple access protocol scheme design. This protocol designs different access schemes according to the different properties of the services, and introduces the distributed TDMA protocol based on the IEEE 802.11 MAC layer protocol. The low real-time services are accessed using the contention-free TDMA,while the real-time services are accessed using CSMA/CA with priority queues. In this way,the traffic of contending channels at the same time is reduced, thereby reducing the probability of collisions, improving network performance, and ensuring the quality of service of different services. Finally, this article simulates the proposed protocol under both single-service scenarios and multi-service scenarios, and compares the simulation results with the IEEE 802.11 MAC layer protocol to analyze the network performance and applicable scenarios of the protocol. The simulation comparison results show that the protocol can exert good network performance in scenarios with fewer nodes, multiple services, and large amounts of traffic.
