In wireless mobile communication system,it is always one big trouble to do the optimization in densely populated area and communication hot spots area.In these areas,there are high traffic and data traffic.Comparing with normal solution which is to increase the quantity of base station and improve the configuration on existing base stations,multi-beam antenna(MBA)has advantage on both cost and performance.It is not only several times more than traditional antenna on capacity,but also with good interference withstood capability contributed by higher isolation performance between two beams.Paper introduces detailed process of designing theory,calculations,simulation and optimization,mechanical design etc to complete 3 beam antenna.This antenna has broad bandwidth from 1710 MHz to 2690 MHz that could almost be compliant with all high bands of mobile communication system in the world.In this paper,author created the architecture for 3 beam antenna based on the theoretical knowledge.With modular design concept,the whole design is composed of feed-net design,radiation arrays design and mechanical design.Then the feed-net module is consist of elevation feed-net and azimuth feed-net.For extension the bandwidth and improvement the ripple in full band for elevation feed-net,design is to adopt multi-branch micro-strip line to optimize power divider.For reaching 3 beams and broad bandwidth for azimuth,design is using power divider and multi-section quadrature hybrid to modify the traditional butler matrix network.With ACP(Aperture-Coupled Patch)for resonator design,the useful bandwidth could be extended by optimization patch and director.Furthermore,radiation pattern is designed by detachable rectangular planar array.The material of radome is ASA(Acrylonitile,Styrene and Acrylate composed)but with plastic support to enhance the capability of wind load withstood.Eventually,design is verified by test on physical unit and the result could meet specification completely.And also this paper could be as reference for future multi-beam antennas developed such as 5 beams,9 beams etc.
