In recent years, with the rise of male sex consumption, male Body Image has gradually attracted the attention of scholars, and a large number of studies have confirmed that men also have Body Image Disturbance.Individual dissatisfaction with the body,if not intervened in time, may lead to unhealthy psychology such as low Self-Esteem,depression,and harmful behaviors such as dieting, cosmetic surgery.Individual physical and mental health and life integrity are of great significance.Chinese President Xi once delivered a speech, proposing that promoting the development of science and technology during the "14th Five-Year Plan" should focus on people's lives and health.Male college students in China,as the future builders and successors of the motherland, are currently in the development and maturity period of their Body Image, and are also in a critical period for the establishment of personality and Self-Esteem,self-recognition and social cognition, and need to be guided by "facing the health of the people" for intervention study. This research focuses on social media, based on Social Cultural Theory,Cultivation Theory,Objectification Theory and Self-discrepancy Theory, based on the Tripartite Influence Model of Thompson et Al.(1999)and the Relationship between Social Media and Body Image Disturbance Model proposed by Perloff(2014).Based on the S-O-R Model to explore the relationship between Patterns of Social Media Use,Usage Intensity of Social Media,Self-Esteem,Upward Social Comparison and Body Image Disturbance in male college students in China, and attempt to explain the impact of male college students in China relevant mechanisms of body image disturbance in men and proposed interventions.Based on in-depth interviews, the author revised the Negative Physical Self Scale for college boys, which focuses on four physical dimensions of muscle, shortness, fatness, and skin. Finally, the survey results of 516 male college students in China across the country showed that the Body Image Disturbance of male college students in China was at an upper-middle level, and there were significant differences in grades, educational backgrounds, and BMI.Patterns of Social Media Use and Usage Intensity of Social Media were positively correlated with Upward Social Comparison and Body Image Disturbance. While Self-Esteem was negatively correlated with Patterns of Social Media Use,Upward Social Comparison,Body Image Disturbance, and Usage Intensity of Social Media is positively correlated.Furthermore,Upward Social Comparison and Self-Esteem play a mediating role in the influence of Patterns of Social Media Use and Usage Intensity of Social Media on Body Image Disturbance in male college students in China.Among them, the Patterns of Social Media Use has the highest influence coefficient on the Body Image Disturbance of male college students in China, which points out the direction for intervention measures. Finally, this study constructs the mechanism of Social Media Use affecting Body Image Disturbance in male college students in China, and from the perspective of social media: the diversity of male body construction, the school perspective: the normalization of male body education, the perspective of male college students in China: the rationality of male body cognition to reduce the unobjective Upward Social Comparison of male college students in China, improve physical Self-Esteem,and then improve male college students ' satisfaction with their bodies.
