Intuitive imagination and logical reasoning are two key capabilities indispensable to senior high school students,as well as critical student evaluation indicators,which have become a focus of mathematics education research.Considering the strong interactions between intuitive imagination and logical reasoning ability,studying them from a global perspective is of great significance for advancing the reform of mathematics curriculum since it can not only improve students' key competencies in an all-round manner,but also facilitate the quality of teaching.For this reason,intuitive imagination,logical reasoning ability and the relationship between them are probed in this study..Based on previous studies at home and abroad,this study looks at the intuitive imagination and logical reasoning ability of grade-one students in senior high schools("students").Evaluation indicators and measurement tools are developed to test students'intuitive imagination and logical reasoning ability and analyze the development situation of these two capabilities and the relationship between them.Finally,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Students'intuitive imagination needs to be strengthened.Gender makes no significant difference to intuitive imagination,but students show great difference in intuitive imagination performance.(2)It is essential to further improve students' logical reasoning ability.Students of different genders differ significantly in logical reasoning.(3)Students' intuitive imagination and logical reasoning ability are significantly positively correlated.(4)Students from different logical reasoning groups differ markedly in intuitive imagination score.In the poor logical reasoning group,there is noticeable difference in intuitive imagination between students of different genders.(5)Students from different intuitive imagination groups show significant difference in logical reasoning score.In the moderate logical reasoning group,students of different genders differ significantly in logical reasoning.(6)Intuitive imagination has significant influence on logical reasoning ability,and vice versa.The following suggestions are put forward based on the investigation result and analysis:apply intuitive teaching to improve students' logical reasoning ability;attach importance to logical reasoning to improve students' intuitive imagination;take advantage of logical forms to guide image drawing;pay attention to gender difference and carry out the student-oriented philosophy;teach students plausible reasoning to enrich their mathematical knowledge.
