Background:Teachers' work engagement not only affects teachers' own psychological state and professional growth,but also has an important impact on students' growth and talent.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the influencing factors of teachers' work engagement and provide theoretical basis for improving the level of teachers' work engagement.Among the many factors affecting teachers' work engagement,two factors are particularly worth exploring: one is whether teachers regard teaching and educating people as a meaningful life pursuit,that is,teachers' sense of purpose in life related to work;The other is whether the teacher has a sense of efficacy to realize this pursuit,that is,the teacher's teaching efficacy.Therefore,to explore the influence of sense of purpose in life and teaching efficacy on teachers' work engagement is of great practical significance for improving teachers' work engagement level,promoting teachers' own development and students' growth.Objective: To explore the development characteristics of primary and secondary school teachers' sense of purpose in life,teaching efficacy and work engagement as well as the relationship among them,focusing on the moderating effect of teaching efficacy on the relationship between teachers' sense of purpose in life and work engagement,in order to open up a new perspective for improving the level of work engagement of teachers.Methods:364 teachers from 7 primary and secondary schools in Qingdao were investigated by questionnaire.One-way ANOVA and independent sample t-test were used to analyze the demographic differences of teachers' sense of purpose in life,work engagement and teaching efficacy.Pearson product-moment coefficient of correlation method was used to analyze the relationship among sense of purpose in life,teaching efficacy and work engagement.Hierarchy Regression and process were used to analyze the moderating effect of teaching efficacy on the relationship between perceived sense of purpose in life and work engagement.Conclusion:Firstly,in terms of gender,there was no significant difference in the sense of purpose in life,work engagement and teaching efficacy of primary and secondary school teachers.In terms of age,there were significant differences in work engagement and teaching efficacy of primary and secondary school teachers.In terms of teaching years,there were significant differences in work engagement and teaching efficacy of primary and secondary school teachers.There was a significant positive correlation among the three variables and their dimensions of purpose in life,work engagement and teaching efficacy.Thirdly,The general educational efficacy moderated the relationship between having the purpose in life and vitality dimensions,between pursuing the purpose of life and the total score of work engagement,between pursuing the purpose of life and the dimension of vitality,and between the pursuing the purpose of life and the dimension of concentration.
