A Study On Teaching Character Description Writing In Senior Narrative

In the first year of high school,narrative writing is the focus of teaching,and in narrative writing,character description is crucial,and its level of writing directly affects the overall effect of a narrative essay.However,the teaching of narrative writing in the first year of high school has not been paid attention to this,and the relevant research in the academic field is also weak.Therefore,this thesis focuses on the character description in the teaching of senior narrative writing.This thesis analyzes the current situation of students' narrative character descriptions at the beginning of the school year with the help of a questionnaire,and finds that students' existing problems in character descriptions are mainly focused on unsystematic knowledge,lack of writing materials,untypical selection of features,lack of vivid language,and single descriptive techniques.The main reasons for this are students' lack of awareness of the important role of character description,sketchy learning in junior high school,lack of awareness of accumulating writing materials,monotonous daily life,and poor writing vocabulary.Based on this,based on the three major theories of hierarchy of needs,achievement motivation and attribution of success or failure,and in accordance with the relevant requirements of the General High School Language Curriculum Standards(revised in 2017 edition 2020),we explored the strategies of teaching character description writing in five aspects: appearance,language,action,psychology and demeanor,respectively,combined with the analysis of text passages and student work fragments in the Ministry's edition of the General High School Language Textbook.Finally,the effect of teaching narrative character description writing to senior students at the end of the semester was summarized by means of an interview survey,and it was found that all the five problems existing at the beginning of the school year were improved.Combined with the above analysis,we reflect on the teaching of character description writing and try to give suggestions to the first-line language teachers in senior high school on the teaching of character description writing,namely,understanding students' psychological development and thinking development characteristics,investigating students' narrative character description writing status,helping students break through the bottleneck of character description knowledge,and encouraging students to accumulate language words consistently.The innovation of this dissertation: It is more relevant to study the teaching of narrative writing specifically for the senior class at the high school level,and to select the topic of character description in the teaching of narrative writing.
