With the national attention to campus football, football has been widely developed in China's university campus. However, relevant studies show that women's soccer participation is very small, and most of the female students in colleges and universities show a lack of interest in soccer, compared to the number of men's soccer. There are significant differences between men's and women's soccer, including more financial allocations for men's soccer, and training that does not take into account the differences between men and women, but that is based on men's standards; The idea is that women are less suited to football than men.Gender stereotypes may play an important role, but there is little literature to investigate gender stereotypes in football.Based on this, this paper discusses the impact of Gender Stereotypes on the development of Women's football in colleges and universities.First of all,the author uses the questionnaire survey method to study whether there are gender stereotypes in the field of football in colleges and universities. The results show that men have more gender stereotypes than women in terms of quantity and quality,it is more important for men to conform to the gender stereotypes of football than for women to conform to the gender stereotypes of football.Secondly, the implicit association test(IAT)was used to investigate the existence of implicit gender stereotypes aimed at women in universities. The results showed that both sexes have gender stereotypes aimed at women, the gender stereotype of male is more serious than that of female. Finally, through three experiments to study the specific impact of gender stereotypes on the development of Women's football in colleges and universities, including experiment 1 to explore the impact of gender stereotypes on football skills, the results showed that female college students performed better in soccer when their gender stereotypes were reduced. In Experiment 2,the effect of gender stereotype on soccer performance was investigated. The results showed that for more complicated actions and tasks, such as tackle in defensive tactics, the effect of gender stereotype was not significant, for example,in the physical confrontation of defensive tactics, the influence of gender stereotype is significant;moreover, the influence of gender stereotype on final score is not significant. In Experiment 3,the effect of gender stereotype on college women's soccer participation and liking was investigated. The results showed that when the stereotype of female college students was reduced, their participation and liking of soccer increased significantly. On the one hand, the research results of this paper verify the correctness of the previous hypothesis theory,on the other hand,it also effectively fills the gaps in the field, and promotes the development of the theory and practice of gender stereotypes in women's football.Based on the above research results,it is shown that there are quite serious gender stereotypes in colleges and universities, and gender stereotypes have seriously affected the development of women's football in colleges and universities and even the healthy development of Chinese women's football,it is therefore urgent to seek measures to eliminate gender stereotypes, and it is not feasible to rely solely on a few training sessions on stereotypes or a simple advocacy strategy to solve the problem,we also need to find other more effective ways to eliminate gender stereotypes in women's football to exert sufficient influence, need to take more necessary means to promote the development of women's football. Therefore, this paper puts forward several feasible suggestions based on the existing research results, specifically speaking,it is necessary to increase the propaganda of women's football in colleges and universities, female college students should improve their psychological quality, football teachers should adopt new teaching methods and strategies, sports departments in colleges and universities should hold more football matches, and government departments should increase macro-level regulation and control five strategies.
