Children with mild intellectual disability have a lower level of intelligence than children of the same age,and they have various difficulties in adapting.When they enter school,there will also be varying degrees of school adaptation problems.Special education schools are compulsory education institutions specifically for children with special needs.However,special education schools also have some problems,such as insufficient teachers,poor professionalism,and unscientific curriculum settings.Compared with the school for training wisdom,the situation of children in special education schools is more complicated,and the contradiction between personalities and commonalities is more prominent,which exacerbates the school adaptation problems of children with mild intellectual disabilities.If they cannot adapt to school,it will be difficult for children with mild intellectual disability to take care of themselves and socialize.This not only hinders the survival and development of children with mild intellectual disability,but even causes social problems.Therefore,this study is mainly based on a special education school in a county in Xianyang City,Shaanxi Province,to conduct social work research on the school adaptation of children with mild intellectual disabilities.Use the professional methods of social work to improve the school adaptability of children with mild intellectual disability,so that children with mild intellectual disability can better adapt to the school environment,so as to achieve considerable development and progress.After investigation and research,the author divides the school adaptation of children with mild intellectual disability into five dimensions:self-care ability,emotional adaptation,behavioral adaptation,interpersonal adaptation and learning adaptation,and conducts needs assessment for these five dimensions.Through two methods,group work and case work,the school adaptability of children with mild intellectual disabilities is improved.In the group work,five children with mild intellectual disability were selected based on various factors to form a group.According to the specific situation of the group members,eight activities were carried out in three stages,and the group work has achieved great results.In the case work,a member of the group with more serious behavior problems was selected to carry out case work alone,and the behavior modification model was used to correct his abnormal behavior,which not only corrected his abnormal behavior to a certain extent,but also promoted his school adaptation Several other dimensions of ability have been improved to varying degrees.After professional intervention,the school adaptability of these five children with mild intellectual disability has been improved.This study actively applied social work theories and techniques to improve the school adaptability of children with mild intellectual disabilities,and verified its effectiveness.
