| Comprehensive thinking is an important aspect of the four core qualities of geography proposed in the 2017 new curriculum standards.The STEAM education concept originated from abroad can cultivate students’ logical thinking ability and problem-solving ability,and help them to comprehensively understand the world and solve practical problems with interdisciplinary thinking.It is of great significance to apply STEAM education concept to the cultivation of students’ comprehensive thinking quality of geography.Therefore,this paper selects the section of "earth and globe" from the first volume of seventh grade geography in people’s education edition,as the teaching content,and conducts a teaching case study on the incorporation of STEAM concept.Based on a large number of relevant literature research,this paper firstly sorts out and summarizes the current situation of STEAM education research at home and abroad and the research status of comprehensive geographical thinking.It is found that the method of combining STEAM education concept with geography teaching in Chinese middle schools is relatively weak.Therefore,this paper tries to use STEAM education concept to enhance the teaching effect of the cultivation of comprehensive thinking in geography.Secondly,on the basis of in-depth analysis of STEAM concept and the connotation of geographical comprehensive thinking literacy,this paper puts forward their convergence points in three aspects: the comprehensiveness of elements;requirements for artistic attainment.Based on the reflection of the value of education and the SWOT analysis method,this paper analyzes the strategy of using STEAM education to cultivate middle school students’ comprehensive geographical thinking from four aspects of strengths,weaknesses,opportunities and threats,and probes into the feasibility of cultivating the comprehensive geographical thinking quality with STEAM education concept.Finally,a teaching mode of comprehensive thinking cultivation of middle school geography based on STEAM education theory is constructed,STEAM concept is integrated into the regular middle school geography teaching,and a teaching case of geography course under this mode is designed and given,demonstrating the feasibility and practicability of this mode.The following conclusions are drawn from the research:(1)STEAM education and middle school comprehensive thinking quality of geography have the same connotation.(2)STEAM is very practical for cultivating middle school students’ comprehensive thinking quality in geography.(3)According to the teaching cases and the implementation of the evaluation,it can be seen that the application of STEAM concept in middle school geography teaching is conducive to improving students’ enthusiasm and interest in geography learning. |
