Reading teaching is an important part of Chinese teaching.In recent years,with the increasingly deepened new curriculum reform and the constant updating of curriculum concepts,Chinese reading teaching shines with vitality again.However,the influx of different new thoughts and ideas also brought challenges to the current Chinese teaching.For example,a lot of teachers are gradually deviating from Chinese teaching,and even get lost,abandon the fundamentals of Chinese course.Teacher Xiao Peidong,as Mr.Qian Menglong’s favorite pupil,is a shining star in Chinese teaching circle,whose reading teaching art infused a clear and upright style into Chinese teaching.This paper is focused on excavating the advanced reading teaching concept and effective teaching method manifested in the class examples through the in-depth study of typical reading teaching examples,teaching monographs and his teaching research papers under the guidance of teacher Xiao Peidong’s concept of "teaching Chinese shallowly",in hope of alerting the current "mishmash" of Chinese classroom teaching,bringing Chinese classrooms back to origin,and providing certain references for frontline teachers.This research consists of the following parts:The first chapter summarizes the research origin,research status,research ideas and innovations of this topic.The second chapter discusses Xiao Peidong’s personal profile,the connotation characteristics of his reading teaching art,and the development process of teaching thought,in order to have an overall understanding of "teaching Chinese in a shallow way".The third chapter elaborates on the specific art of Xiao Peidong’s reading teaching from aspects of student-oriented happy learning,teacher-leading shallow teaching,and training based pragmatic practice,in hope of acquiring detailed understanding of Xiao Peidong’s reading teaching art.The four chapter summarizes the value and enlightenment of Xiao Peidong’s reading teaching art.Xiao Peidong’s reading teaching has value because it manifests the basic idea of the new curriculum reform and serves an important way of enhancing students’ core literacy.Then,this part recognizes its value and then concludes several enlightenments: it is necessary to adhere to the truth of Chinese language teaching based on language teaching;it is necessary to carry out teaching activities based on student subject;it is necessary to continuously deepen learning based on professional development.Chapter five is the conclusion of above elaboration.It summarizes the artistic features of teacher Xiao Peidong’s reading teaching and inadequacies of this research,and points out the direction of future efforts.Teacher Xiao Peidong’s reading teaching art is a spectacular treasure in the Chinese teaching circle.It is expected that this research can provide some novel inspirations to frontline teachers and enhance the quality of reading teaching.
