Chinese text books are used as the basic resource in teaching process.Texts and related characters are the main part,and in order to have a more useful way to serve teachings for teachers and learning for students,here we can see many illustrations in our Chinese text books.Illustrations are the main supplement of teaching,and in real Chinese classes,teachers and students should pay attention to them.New curriculum offers higher requirements for students.And illustrations are flexible resources that need deeper research and discussion.According to literature and research,many experts have plentiful discussion about them.So,it lays a foundation for us.Following the teaching reform,using illustrations have become more important in our everyday work.However,in the real class,many teachers use illustrations so less.According to it,this article tries to make a total research on compiling using illustrations in Chinese text books,People’s Education Press.This paper aims at all the illustrations that are used in junior high school from Grade 7 to Grade 9,including some colorful pictures,selected pictures of each unit(poems,masterpieces and appendix)literature-summary,statistics to analysis the illustrations,also,to summarize the kinds,characteristics and functions of them.Here are the five parts.Part1,instructions.It begins with illustrations and the particularity of Chinese as a subject to bring out the need of illustrations in Chinese teaching.At the same time,it fits for era development.Then,it describes the research of illustrations and the meaning and ways of the task both home and abroad.Part2,summary of illustrations in Chinese text books,People’s Education Press according to the theory and reality.We will propose the topics,contents,types and locations to show the features and functions.We can find that it has following characteristics: hieroglyph combination,clear contents,different kinds of types and so on.As a result,it can motivate interests,offer more chances and lift the sense of beauty.Part3,the usage of illustrations.This paper based on questionnaire from six junior high schools in Yan’an.Then,I will sort out and summary the understanding and usage of the illustrations.Part4,compiling and using problems in Chinese text books,People’s Education Press.According to the research and clear up the results find that there are following problems: some pictures just have wrong contents,some pictures can’t accord with their passages,some pictures lay in wrong places,part of them don’t have so much attention,types of them are dull,their labels are not so clear,their background pictures are short of meaning,their characteristics are not so clear in grade.Also,there are some problems in using illustrations.Such as they don’t attach so much importance,excavate less,hieroglyph combination is not so good.Part5,insufficient aspects and advice.I will summary some disadvantages in present teaching process and some problems in the textbook it self according to the research.So,here are some advice for arrangers,teachers and students.We should pay attention to the picture combination and its supplement.Pay attention to the imagination and create-space of illustrations effects.We should pay more attention to the regular of the students when they are growing up and pay more attention to humanistic value.There should be some useful rules to control illustrations,perfect feedback mechanism.Also,there are some advice for users like teachers should improve the number of using illustrations,let students use them more.Make a good use of illustrations to train students’ creativity and deeper meaning of illustrations.Students should use them as often as possible and summarize some ways and skills about using illustrations,and find out other ways to be as a supplement.Then,improve students’ listening,speaking,reading and writing skills by using them.What’s more,make a good use of illustrations in order to get good grades.This paper based on the researches and ideas more than one time in order to arouse our educators to pay attention to it.Also,give some references to make the illustrations more perfect for students to learn.What’s more,it can also offer some practicability ways in teaching Chinese.
