A Study Of Intermedia Agenda Setting In Catastrophic Events

In recent years,catastrophic events have occurred frequently in China,which are characterized by their sudden,destructive power,wide scope and far-reaching impact,and are very easy to lead to the occurrence of rumors and other secondary disasters.If handled carelessly,it will bring great threats and challenges to social security and the healthy and orderly development of the modernization process.In addition,microblog platform with its immediacy and decentralization provided another discourse space for the public opinion fermentation and dissemination of emergencies in this period.Different types of media interacted on this platform to build a new public opinion field.When government departments and relevant media release information on this platform,their agendas may also be influenced by each other.Therefore,based on the study of the dynamic evolution process of public opinion,we can understand the agenda characteristics of different types of subjects and the interactive relationship between them,and help the government to grasp the linkage law of various subject agendas in different types of catastrophic events,so as to improve the emergency management ability and level,and better play the role of public opinion guidance.In this paper,catastrophic events are divided into natural disasters and accident disasters,namely "natural disasters" and "man-made disasters",and two typical events,"Shouguang Flood in Shandong " and " Bus Crash Accident in Wanzhou Chongqing ",are taken as study cases,through content analysis for the microblog platform in each type of media content analysis code,and using social network analysis clear display public opinion transmission at different stages of each type of media network attribute agenda,finally granger causality inference is used to analyze the guidance of the three agendas,so as to reveal the attribute agenda network characteristics of government affairs microblog,official microblog and commercial microblog in different stages of the agenda of catastrophic events in different types of catastrophic events,the agenda guiding relationship,interaction pattern and similarities and differences among the three.Based on the network agenda setting,this paper discusses the intermedia agenda setting and clarifies the relationship logic.The research results show that,no matter in natural disasters or man-made disasters,catastrophic public opinion events have a relatively stable intermedia agenda pattern--"from aggregation to differentiation to re-aggregation".Specifically,in the generatinve stage,all subjects are mainly focused on disaster warning and rescue,in the outbreak stage,the agendas of each subject begin to diverge,government affairs microblog continue to warn while official media and commercial media turn to the analysis of the causes of the disaster.When it comes to the spread and recovery period,the agendas of the three subjects converge again to appease the victims.The agenda of each main body has its own characteristics,which is of concern,affected by relevant regulations,commercial media failed to release early warning information about the disaster in the generative stage,while government affairs microblog and official media became rumor makers and disseminators while popularizing science and dispelling rumors due to the problems of new media operators' media literacy.In terms of the agenda-guiding relationship of the three types of subjects,it can be roughly summarized as "interaction with emotion to construct emotional ceremony" in government affairs microblog,"interaction with reason to focus on interpretation and regulation" in official media microblog,and "information interaction to create structured interpretation" in commercial media microblog.Based on the results of correlation analysis and from the perspective of government governance,this paper puts forward the path and suggestions to optimize the regulation of public opinion.Specifically,it includes establishing the early-warning information sharing mechanism in natural disaster events,strengthening the media literacy of new media practitioners in government affairs microblog and official media,leaving certain space for discussion on the topic of catastrophic events,and promoting the coordinated development of the three types of media.The innovation of this study is to introduce the topic of catastrophic events into the study of agenda setting,and to see the differences that may occur in the media agenda when the media reports natural disaster events and accident disaster events;from the perspective of research method,the "emotion" of the topic is introduced into the research of related network agenda setting to judge the positive and negative emotions of relevant texts,which is further advanced than the traditional agenda setting dominated by "cognitive" research in the past.At the same time,this paper also sees the stage characteristics of the catastrophic event agenda,and uses the life cycle theory to present the media agenda network of different stages.
