In the 1970s,against the backdrop of the de-escalation of the Cold War,China chose to stand by the Organization of African Unity and joined hands with all peace-loving African countries that opposed hegemony and resolutely opposed the Soviet Union's involvement in African affairs. It pursued a policy of continuing to support Africa's independence and peace, giving material, moral and political assistance within its means, uniting all the forces that could be united, and targeting its opposition to Soviet hegemonic infiltration in Africa. At this time,China's anti-hegemonic united front policy in Africa was based both on the actual situation in the region during this period and on China's national interest needs and anti-Soviet geopolitical demands in the middle and late stages of the Cold War.In the Angolan civil war,China gave some assistance to all three parties, especially to the other two parties that were supported by the Soviet Union, followed up the real acts of Soviet interference in Angola and called for peaceful cooperation among the three parties;and started limited cooperation with the United States. In the Ogaden War,China combined it with the Angolan civil war;counteracted the Soviet Union's public opinion offensive in a high profile, uniting local peace-loving and anti-interference countries in Africa to oppose the expansion of Soviet hegemony;and gave certain military aid, economic aid and technical aid to Somalia, while maintaining friendly relations with Ethiopia. In the 1970s,China took into account whether the other country was supported by the Soviet Union and whether it was in line with the policy of the united front against hegemony when assisting African countries.Although the anti-hegemony united front policy was strongly colored by the Cold War era and brought limitations to China's diplomacy with Africa in terms of "drawing lines with the Soviet Union" and the instability caused by the excessive influence of Soviet factors on China's policy,China still put China's national interests first in the process of implementing the anti-hegemony united front policy with African countries and was flexible in its approach.flexible.Therefore,when evaluating this policy, one should take into account the characteristics of the times and the actual situation in China and come to the objective conclusion that China's policy toward Africa during this period played a certain role in supporting the political independence of African countries, maintaining peace in the African region, opposing hegemonic interference, and broadening China's diplomatic situation.
