"Back West And Advance East" - Research On Serbia's Foreign Policy Choices

According to the classic geopolitical theory,the Balkans is the "heart zone" of the Eurasian plate.Whoever rules the Balkans will rule the world.Located in the Balkan Peninsula,influenced by geopolitics,Serbia is at the forefront of the conflict between eastern and Western civilizations.As a European country,Serbia has always been an alternative to the west,but a little strange to the East.In the long historical process of Serbia,"westward" approach has been excluded,and "eastward" approach can only be achieved through sudden international events,in a word,"westward retreat and eastward advance".The purpose of this paper is to analyze the reasons and essence of Serbia’s "retreat from the West and advance to the East".Through the analysis,it is considered that the policy of "retreat from the West and advance to the East" adopted by Serbia is the result of the joint game of historical reasons,cultural beliefs and geopolitics,and it is a choice full of contradictions,compromises and unwillingness.China China’s one belt,one road strategy,is helpful to China’s strategic analysis of Serbia’s strategic relations with China,especially in the context of the current international pattern of accelerated change.
