Through the research on the use of light in painting by predecessors,we can more clearly analyze the role of light as a visual medium in oil painting works,and then analyze more deeply the artist’s gift to the performance of light and shadow.The meaning and spiritual connotation of light.The candlelight in Latour’s works represents either the light of Jesus,the light of humanity,or the light of hope,with a mysterious,introspective and sublime spirit.The first chapter of this thesis will start with the exploration of light by artists in different periods,combined with the development of Western oil painting to study the application and performance of light in oil painting creation by artists in different periods,and the use and performance of light in oil painting creation in different forms and angles.What kind of emotional tone and visual feeling will the light produce in the picture;the second chapter is to conduct a specific analysis through Georges de Latour’s "candlelight" to study the subjective arrangement in Latour’s processing of "candlelight" In order to achieve the dramatic effect of the picture and its influence on future generations;the third chapter is to combine the performance of light in oil paintings to explore the spiritual expression of religious thought and humanitarian thought contained in light under a certain historical background;After analyzing the candlelight paintings of Georges de Latour,I will combine some insights in the process of creative practice and the experience of using light to create oil paintings.By studying the works of the predecessors and the exploration in practice,and innovating on the basis of learning from the predecessors,this paper not only affirms the positive role of light in oil painting,but also makes artistic creation more diversified through modern scientific and technological means.Therefore,despite being in different historical periods,the application and performance of light by predecessors still have research value today.We can learn from the experience of predecessors and combine modern new contradictions and new trends of thought to create more Oil paintings of the era. |
