Exploring The Use Of "line" In Expressionist Figure Painting

Painting is an important form of human visual communication.Line is one of the basic elements of painting language.Its emergence is at the same time as human mastering painting skills.Throughout the history of painting art,no matter how the painting style changes and how rich the painting types are,lines always occupy an important leading position.With the vigorous development of modern art,the styles of works expressed by artists have become more and more diverse.For example,contemporary expressionism-an artistic trend that less objectively describes events,but more expresses personal subjective feelings and spiritual experience by exaggerated artistic means,which shines brightly because it conforms to the development of the times.This paper briefly expounds the change process of line language in the development of painting history,lists the typical types and functions of lines in art works,and focuses on the characteristics of line in expressionist painting,the form and function of line in its artistic creation,and the particularity of line in the emotional expression of artists.Taking Alice Neal's works as the research object,this paper discusses the formal language,spiritual connotation and emotional expression of lines in contemporary expressionist painting.This paper also analyzes and compares the representative paintings of similar types at home and abroad,and further studies their expression of line language.In the process of graduation creation,I also practiced the painting language expression of line in creation,and discussed its various application possibilities in creation.Through the practice of this kind of artistic creation,It also further studies the important role of lines in the expression of contemporary painting.
