This paper reports a multi-dimensional study of "Ge+VP" question in Hanshan dialect. This study is based on a detailed static description of facts and conducted within the framework of tri-dimensional theory of syntactic structure, semantic category and expressive functions. It also seeks to examine the origins and causes of "Ge+VP" question in Hanshan dialect within the framework of contrastive linguistic and synchronic and diachronic, spatial and chronological perspectives,in an effort to discover its differences from corresponding questions in Chaohu dialect. The introduction section is a review of the existing studies on repeated question in dialects. It points out the significance of the topic and the research method.Chapter One describes the structural features of "Ge+VP" interrogative sentences in the Hanshan dialect from the syntactic plane, describes several forms of "Ge+VP" interrogative sentences in the Hanshan dialect, and analyzes the syntactic distribution of "Ge+VP" interrogative sentences. The syntactic distribution of "Ge+VP" interrogatives is analyzed, and the syntactic position of the gerund and "individual" is discussed;Secondly,we analyze the epistemic features of "Ge+VP" interrogatives in the Hanshan dialect from the semantic plane, examine the function of "Ke" to show the focus of doubt, explore the tense differences of "Ge+VP" interrogatives in the Hanshan dialect, and conclude that "zhe" can strictly distinguish the two opposites of "irrealis" and "realis",and finally explain the questioning function of "Ge+VP".Chapter Two traces the origin of the "Ge+VP" interrogative in the Hanshan dialect from a chronological perspective.Firstly,we examine the previous studies on the origin of "Ke",the use of the interrogative adverb "Ke" and the use of the neutral interrogative "Ke" from the Tang and Five Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and find that In the Ming and Qing dynasties, there was a large number of "Ke VP"-type interrogatives.Secondly, dozens of novels in the vernacular from different dialect areas in the Ming and Qing dynasties were examined, and the regional characteristics of "Ke VP"-type questions gradually emerged in the Ming dynasty, becoming the main form of repeated questions in the Jianghuai region, and "Ke VP"-type questions began to withdraw from the northern dialect in the late Qing dynasty. The four novels with Jianghuai mandarin as the dialect background are analyzed, and the syntactic performance of the "Ke VP" type question is compared with the modern Hanshan dialect "Ge+VP".Finally, the reasons for the interrogative intonation at the end of the "Ke VP" interrogative sentences are analyzed.Chapter 3 compares the similarities and differences between the Hanshan "individual + VP" and Mandarin "F-VP" interrogatives, and compares the "F-VP" interrogatives in Fuyang(Zhongyuan official dialect),Nanjing and Yangzhou(Jianghuai official dialect),and Suzhou and Shanghai(Wu language). Finally, the typological considerations based on commonality and individuality reveal the profound implications of the "individual+VP" interrogatives in the Hanshan dialect. The concluding section summarizes the basic features of the Hanshan "individual+VP" interrogative, inferring that the "Ge+VP" is an inheritance of the modern Chinese "Ke+VP" interrogative and has received the influence of The "Ge+VP" is an inheritance of the "Ke+VP" interrogative of modern Chinese and has been influenced by Mandarin, which makes it unique.
