Nanjing City Wall Stone Gate And Its Protection And Utilization

Nanjing city wall,as a symbol of the history of Nanjing City,witnessed the vicissitudes of Nanjing.The existing stone gate of Nanjing city wall,as a cultural relic building,has important historical,cultural and artistic value.The history of stone gate of Nanjing city wall can be traced back to Ximen in the period of Yang Wu and Nan Tang Dynasty.The urban construction of Jiankang city in Song Dynasty basically followed the urban system of Nan Tang Dynasty.On this basis,the scale of Ximen was expanded by dredging the moat and adding the wall.Therefore,it has the nickname of "daximen".At the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty,Zhu Yuanzhang established the capital of Nanjing and built a new city.The stone gate became one of the thirteen gates in the capital of Nanjing in the Ming Dynasty,which controlled the important place in the west of the city.Therefore,shichengmen involves many wars and major historical events.From Ming Dynasty to today.The main gate of shichengmen,the urn and the surrounding ancillary buildings have been damaged and repaired repeatedly,becoming the key cultural relics protection units in China.Shichengmen has the most nicknames in Nanjing city wall,including "Ximen","daximen","hanximen" and "hanximen",with a total of five names.Among them,"Ximen","daximen" and "shichengmen" were used no later than Southern Song Dynasty,and "hanximen" and "hanximen" were used no later than Ming Dynasty.The shape and structure of shichengmen is special.Except for two wells and Changjie,its urn is the only existing Ming Dynasty boat urn in Nanjing.During the construction of shichengmen,special bricks were fired.Combined with historical materials,we can further study the defense of shichengmen.In recent years,the protection status of shichengmen in Nanjing is good,and the protection of cultural relics has achieved certain results,but there is still room for improvement.However,the popularity of shichengmen is low,and there are some problems such as erosion of the building surface and low utilization rate.Through field research,the author analyzes the existing problems of the stone gate of Nanjing city wall in the aspects of cultural relic buildings,the display of urn and city wall,and the protection and restoration of ancillary buildings.It is suggested that the daily management and maintenance should be strengthened in the aspect of protection,and the interpretation content and means of cultural relic buildings should be enriched in the aspect of utilization,hoping to provide some reference for the protection and utilization of the stone gate of Nanjing city wall.
