Qiao Lai was an officer of the Qing Dynasty.He was born in a distinguished family in Bao Ying.His father was the supervision in He Nan Province of the Ming dynasty.Though Qiao Lai’s father and brother refused to be the officers after the Qing Dynasty ruling China,Qiao Lai took an active official career.He passed the provincial civil service examination in the sixth year of Kang Xi(1667),and took part in the election of ‘Bo Xue Hong Ci’ in the eighteen year of Kang Xi(1679).And then he was commissioned to be the Reader in Han Lin Academy.In the twenty-fifth year of Kang Xi(1686),Qiao Lai was framed and deported to his country.Qiao Lai’ official career presented the attitude that the Qing rulers to the Han people.At the same time,Qiao Lai was a member of scholars in regions south of the Yangtze River.He was knowledgeable,and was well versed in writing.He had wrote a lot of books,such as<Poems of Shi Ling>,<Yi Si>,<Poems in the Zhe Xi cottage>,etc.This article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter studies Qiao Lai’s family and lifetime,mainly examines the influence of Qiao’s family on him,and introduces his all lives and growing experience.The second chapter explores the factors that influence his official career,especially his family factors and that the attitude that the Qing rulers to the Han people.The third chapter examines Qiao’s social activities.Qiao Lai had many friends throughout his life,which included both his colleagues and the ones who refused to be the officers after the Qing Dynasty ruling China.Based on the study in their poems,I will improve Qiao’s character,and to explore the friendship of the Han people in early Qing Dynasty.The fourth chapter is to research Qiao’s poems and articles.Through the study of contents and characteristics of his poetry and articles,I want to show his literary ideas,even to explore the literary thoughts in early Qing dynasty.
