This translation report is based on chapters 3 and 4 of Elizabeth Peterson’s Making Sense of “Bad English”—An Introduction to English Attitudes and Ideologies.The book studies the language attitudes and language ideologies of young people in different countries and regions towards English.The third chapter covers the language attitudes of British social classes towards different types of English.Chapter 4 deals with the regional,ethnic and racial differences that produce the concept of “good” and“bad” English.This report mainly adopts domestication,and focuses on adjective translation,metaphor translation and genre translation.This report tries to provide a reference for sociolinguistics research on English-Chinese translation practice and contribute to the development of sociolinguistics.
