STEM education focuses on developing students' scientific,technical,engineering and mathematics literacy.As STEM education comes to the fore in promoting economic development,it has become increasingly important in China.Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 in STEM Education for the 21 st Century is chosen as translation materials for this translation practice report.These two chapters primarily introduce various practice of STEM education teaching theories,several types of curriculum design and excellent engineering education projects,which is of constructive significance to first-class universities in implementing STEM education.This paper is inclined to analyze the translation difficulties from three perspectives including Comprehension,Expression and Adaption.Specialized terms,abstract words,document-specific names and complex sentences are involved in scientific and objective text.Within the process of translation practice,the translation methods include using diction,annotations,free translation and Chinese four-character word at the lexical level,and condensation,drawing and division are used at the syntactic level.The purpose of this translation practice is to learn about STEM education and teaching procedures in other countries and to solve translation difficulties,so as to propose references and proposals for relevant texts about STEM education.
