The translation material of this paper is taken from Chapter 5 of Cultural Literacy and Empathy in Education Practice,which focuses on the importance of enhancing students’ cultural literacy in higher education through the introduction of activities and case studies.The translation material is concise and abstract terms are common in the selected chapters.The material selected by the translator is an educational material,and the author uses mostly loose sentences,and the language is straightforward and to the point.The translator firstly analyses the translation methods of abstract nouns,such as conversion and the concretization of abstract nouns.Secondly,according to different situations,the translator adopts four methods for loose sentences,such as linear translation,division,reverse translation and synthesis.Finally,the translator also adds the missing major concepts and predicate in the translation through logical judgement.The paper presents case studies of different translation methods,hoping that it can be of some reference value for the translation of similar materials and provides some help for the study of educational works. |
