Color Study Of Mikhail Vrubel's Paintings

Mikhail Vrubel(1856-1910)is a famous Russian symbolist painter.He grew up under the influence of the Russian Touring School,but his painting style is different from other painters in this school.He portrays Russian folk stories and epic images in magnificent colors with an important painting influence.The general appearance of a picture is colorful,mysterious and unique symbolic.Color is an important part of visual language and one of the expressive elements in painting.This article takes the color in Vrubel’s paintings as a research topic,which analyzes the forming factors and characteristics of his color style,and tries to study the artistic characteristics of his works.The thesis is divided into three parts: The first part sorts out the influencing factors of Vrubel’s painting color style,and focuses on the influence of the artistic environment,religious murals and ceramic sculptures on his painting color;The second part demonstrates the Vrubel’s characteristics of color in symbolic and decorative aspects also with unique color block expression by concrete works.The third part,talks about the Influence of Vrubel’s painting color on my graduation creation and its solutions through the research and combing of the color of Vrubel’s painting,combined with my own specific creative practice.
