In the field of international Chinese language education,how to effectively improve the teaching ability of Chinese teachers has always been the key to research for the long-term and sustainable development of the subject.For novice teachers who are at the early stage of their teaching career with less than three years of teaching experience,their teaching abilities are yet not comparable to those of expert teachers due to the lack of their accumulation of both teaching experience and relevant knowledge;however,their plasticity also gives them potential at this stage,which needs a set of clear and standardized instructions for their refinement of teaching abilities.The professional development of teachers is a continuous and dynamic process.Good awareness and a comprehensive understanding of the current abilities of novice teachers can be very crucial to help them to make continuous progress in their next stages.In this paper,the teaching videos of 10 different novice international Chinese language teachers were used for the study.The video analysis method was used to observe and evaluate their teaching processes,as well as encoding transcription with the help of the Nvivo12 qualitative analysis software.After the analysis,a few strategies for the teachers to improve were proposed according to their existing weaknesses.This paper consists of the following five sections.The ‘Introduction' briefly explains the purpose,significance and methodology of the research,as well as a review of other related literature.The second part is a case study of teaching videos based on Nvivo12 and the third chapter categorizes the competence of novice teachers based on The Standards for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(TCSOL).Next,the fourth part of the paper summarizes the novice teachers' reflections on the teaching,combined with the expert teachers' experiences,and proposes strategies to improve abilities of novice teachers.In the final concluding section,the research results of the paper are summarized and reflection of the research is also included.
