A Pragmatic Study Of Diplomatic Ambiguous Language

Answers to media questions in diplomatic activities refer to the response of the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to journalists’ questions at a Foreign Ministry Briefing,which consists of two parts: questions from journalists and answers from the official spokesperson.When answering media questions,the official spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry,as a representative and image of the country,explains in detail the information and policies pursued by the state and expresses the position and attitude of the state to certain international issues and major events.Therefore,when an official spokesperson answers questions from the media,he must use language,i.e.diplomatic language,correctly and skillfully in order to ensure that he or she is polite and appropriate when releasing information and expressing positions,In this way,he can accomplish the communicative goals and help create a good communicative atmosphere,maintain good interaction with media journalists,and play a role in guiding public opinion in the right direction.Fuzzy language plays an important role in communication and exchange,because it has the unique charm of being fuzzy and implicit.In answering questions from the media,which is an important communication platform between the state and journalists,the spokesperson sometimes faces difficult questions.In such cases,the spokesperson often uses diplomatic fuzzy language to convey information and express his or her positions in order to understand the dialogue initiative in the communication and to facilitate an effective and smooth completion of the communication.In this regard,we consider it necessary to conduct an in-depth study on the issue of diplomatic fuzzy language in the answers of the Foreign Ministry official spokesperson to media questions.Based on previous studies,this thesis analyzes the linguistic materials in the answers of the Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson to media questions,studies the manifestations of diplomatic fuzzy language in the answers of the Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson to media questions,and analyze detailed applications and pragmatic functions of diplomatic fuzzy language in the answers of the Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson to media questions under the guidance of cooperative and politeness principles.The thesis consists of three parts: introduction,main part and conclusion.Introduction: Outline the research background,significance,methods and propose research ideas of this thesis.The main part is divided into four chapters:Chapter One: Summarize the research results of fuzzy language and diplomatic fuzzy language at home and abroad.Chapter Two: Define the concepts such as fuzziness,fuzzy language and diplomatic fuzzy language;еxplain the compositions and connotations of the cooperative and politeness principles,and analyze the use of fuzzy language from the perspective of the cooperative and politeness principles.Chapter Three: Summarize the manifestations of diplomatic fuzzy language in the answers of the Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson to media questions from lexical,syntactic and stylistic perspectives.Chapter Four: Elucidate the applications and pragmatic functions of diplomatic fuzzy language in the answers of the Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson to media questions.Conclusion: Summarize the full text,come to a conclusion and state the value of the research.
