Onomatopoeia and mimicry are the language forms for children to recognize things and perceive the world for the first time. This is to imitate the sounds of things, and some are also imitated through phrases spoken by adults. Therefore, onomatopoeia and mimicry words have produced unique language commonality in picture books for young children, and they are loved by children in different countries. This article analyzes the narrative methods of onomatopoeia and mimicry words in the picture books of young children, and explores the possibility of combining children’s language and painting. The scope of the picture books discussed by the author is limited to Chinese original picture books and the onomatopoeia and mimicry picture books that have been introduced in China. There are many publications or papers at home and abroad that discuss the relationship between picture books and children. What kind of content should be given to children to meet the needs of children’s aesthetics, emotions and imagination. On the other hand, the number of picture books for young children in China is small, and the market is dominated by preaching themes, which affects people’s value judgments on children’s views. The discovery of the view of children is the observation of children by adults, and the influence of picture books on children’s growth is ultimately reflected in adults. It is human observation of themselves, and it is a long life exploration. The main purpose of this article is to sort out the different attributes of onomatopoeia and mimicry picture books based on the characteristics of children’s physical and mental development at different stages, and according to the page-turning relationship formed by the text and pictures in the picture book, the color and layout collocation, and children’s five senses.Analyze the necessity of reading together with parents and children. It is a motif that Chinese original picture book authors cannot ignore how the simple narrative method of the simple low-child picture book revolves around the theme of life and uses the small to see the big picture.
