Liu Hongdian And The Study Of "Zhuangzi's Judgment"

This book Zhuang Zi Yue Jie wrritten by Liu Hongdian is a special study work about Zhuangzi in the Qing Dynasty.This annotation embodies some representative characteristics of the development of Zhuangzi study in the late Qing Dynasty,and has its own unique research value.Based on Liu Hongdian’s limited data,this paper makes a comprehensive investigation of Liu Hongdian’s life,family background and the versions of Zhuang Zi Yue Jie,so as to get a clear understanding of Liu Hongdian as an annotation author and make up for the lack of previous data on Liu Hongdian’s biographical research.Based on these,we can get the characteristic of Zhuang Zi Yue Jie.Secondly,according to the overall trend of the development of study about Zhuangzi in the late Qing Dynasty,this paper will demonstrate the influence of the Confucian interpretation trend of Zhuangzi.In terms of the ideological nature of Zhuangzi,Liu Hongdian insists that Zhuangzi is a Confucian philosopher.At the same time,Liu Honghdian also combines Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism in the book Zhuang Zi Yue Jie.In addition,Liu Hongdian explain Zhuangzi by the idea of Xin and Li.It is an important feature of Liu Hongdian’s Zhuang Zi Yue Jie.The war between The western great powers and Qing also has important influence on the book Zhuang Zi Yue Jie.Thirdly,this paper make research on relation between Liu Hongdian’s book and the idea of his teacher Liu Yuan.Finally,this paper discusses the influence of his long-term teaching experience in his early years and his official career on his book.
